hmm, the rest of the album doesn't really have much of that off-kilter sound the moloch has, but it's still pretty solid prog. i don't have a particularly strong opinion on it yet though, will definitely need to dig into it more

well this is too damn long, for one, especially with how kinda lacking in variety it feels like it is. i see these guys were initially more of a tech death band and that definitely shows on this, and the overall sound is pretty good, but it feels like it wears thin after 70+ minutes of it and 15 tracks, lol. needs more listens.

tonight: prog metal i don't have a ton to say about x2
other notes: i relistened to all the round 1 albums over the weekend, bear ghost i'm still not sure on, there's some of it that's really cool but other parts i kinda dislike, behemoth i'm passing on bcuz it's just... not quite my thing, psychonaut is prob the most interesting album out of the bunch overall, i will probably end up getting that one

technically not my first listen, but details
i think the first four tracks are all pretty cool and diverse. the long 13 minute track has a good climax but takes waaayy too long to get there and stays uninteresting for a good while too, especially since the one after it is like, half the length and has a much better quiet sound & just as strong a build. the last track was the one you played in plug and it does feel a bit underwhelming as an album closer too but overall i dug this & do wanna spin it at least one more time

i mean i tend to send the same songs a lot, because they're the best ones

i'm working on first impressions but this round is about 15 minutes longer than usual (and the 15+ minute song that was sent doesn't hold 100% of the blame for that, the song lengths this round are all trending higher than usual
