It makes sense I promise but I also am considering a prelim option for the reds if needed so, don't worry about it too much

Nah, it's all good. If I get bumped, it's no harm. In my second roulette, the first one you played in, I didn't let me "regulars" play. New blood is good in roulettes. I'm totally cool.

If I'm in, then just let me know. I really don't want to do a prelim. If not, no hard feelings.

the prelim idea is basically thus;

"it's just round 1 but more songs"
"green and yellow are 100% safe"
"orange is safe unless they place below every red player"
"reds are fighting for the remaining slots, excluding the above orange scenario"

it won't be an extra round though

i think I have 6 songs so far, hangman will start whenever I have them all. For the pace I'm pushing towards with this one, expect results Monday or Tuesday at the latest & prepare your round 2 songs too

also next roulette i'm probably just gonna skip having a banned list altogether & just tell people "any artist rated 4* or higher is banned, any album that's rated is banned, everything else is good unless i know the specific song" because honestly maintaining a banned list this big is actually the worst

but like, feel free to still do that for this roulette too. my RYM is pretty up-to-date. i have a bad habit of not rating stuff i've only listened to like 2-3 times though (which is like most of the partially banned list here)

if you want to try for a bonus theme, you need to specifically request it! i ain't in the game of making assumptions here.
of the 6 songs i have so far, only two people have requested bonus themes. there's at least two i know right off the bat are eligible for one of the bonus themes because i'm familiar with the artists in question to a small extent, but if you don't request the bonus point, you aren't getting the bonus point.

So I think my song qualifies for a theme but I’m not entirely sure.. I’ll let you know when I send. Can I submit for 2 themes and you decide whether it applies for one?

Does the strawberry schedule basically indirectly punish you for sending any other genre than those included?

i'd say not necessarily? you can send a song that doesn't match any theme and if it's better than what you'd send matching a theme it could be for the best. round winner berries are given out ignoring any theme bonuses, anyways

themes aren't super strict btw, if i can reasonably see it matching a theme i'll give it to you. i don't really want to allow for "backup themes" because it could mean sending for every theme in every round and just hoping one of them matches up because if i give you 2 themes then why not just give 40 themes

themes are more there to guide you towards sending stuff i'd like though yes. except the golden berries are there to tell you things i probably won't like. people always complain about me not doing themed rounds and it works well with the format so here's the compromise

I agree, I like this way of doing it. It highlights a number of styles/eras/genres that you're less likely to enjoy, and therefore awards bonuses but at high risk.

I'm starting out sending stuff I think you'll like and not worrying about bonuses, but I'll see how it goes.
