all the other teams are legit JV teams that are made up of mostly 9th/10th and 11th graders.
Congrats on the win, that's awesome!

But you have some JV teams with 11th graders?  That sounds a little odd.  At least down here, JV is 9th and 10th, and varsity is 11th and 12th.  An 11th grader playing JV down here would get laughed out of the gym/field/whatever.

Appreciate it....seeing that group of kids so excited after that win was worth every hour dedicated to trying to help them improve as players and people.

Yeah....the Mississippi Valley league in Illinois allows it, and...in Missouri the Varsity Coach can dedicate 5 players to be 'swing' players that can play both JV and Varsity....as long as they aren't seniors.

I had Thanksgiving dinner with my cousin's family last week, and her oldest son has started playing bass. He showed me some basslines he's been learning, mostly stuff like Nirvana and Weezer.
But then he started playing Roundabout by Yes! Sloppy, but it was awesome to hear him attempt it. And it's great to know that music like that still has some kind of relevance with the younger generation.

I taught him one of my favorite basslines, Chameleon by Herbie Hancock.

The little things we take for granted right? Not having hot water fucks everything up.

Kudos to all above :tup

Mrs. DA tested negative again for cancer a few weeks ago after having a lymph node removed for a test last January.  Her sister flew out for that, and she's here today on a related business trip.  Glad to have her company.

The wife and I went to NYC to see 'Gutenburg:  The Musical'.  Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells (from 'The Book of Mormon') were just as funny and talented as when we saw them on Broadway years ago in that show. ‘Gutenberg’… a silly, smart, stupid, sarcastic ridiculous play that had me in such stitches so much that I was laughing aloud at times (others were audibly guffawing at other times when I was silently laughing myself silly).  At the end, when the 'guest producer' showed up (for our show, it was Katie Couric), I was in tears, and I simply could not stop laughing.  I would wipe the tears from my eyes...and then I'd start uncontrollably laughing again. :lol :lol :lol

That happened once during the summer when my best friend visited, we were out in the garage, and somebody said something, and, well.....

Moving on......

The tradition of me and the missus on long trips is to play the end of my best of DT III disc with the Score version of 'The Razor's Edge' as we near our exit on I 695.  ('we move in circles.....the story ends where it began...').  On that disc, I placed what James says after 'Metropolis'...

"Thank you, New York!  This is definitely a memorable evening for us all.  Thanks for making the magic...and keeping the dream alive!!!  Good night!!!"

Crowd noise, and then there's Portnoy:

"There's no place like home.  Thank you so much, New York.  This is one of the best nights of our career.  Thank you so much."

It kinda hit me like a two ton heavy thing hearing it yesterday.  The first time in thirteen years that.....well.....instead of feeling some pangs, well....you know...... ;)

So Luke, your wife helps people give birth? Does she go to their houses?

It's not quite a midwife, she doesn't do any hands on delivering of babies. She is part birthing partner, part advocate, part therapist, part educator. She supports people to have the births they want, develop their birth plan, educate them on the physiology of birth, helps with biomechanics to help move baby into position and also work on outside factors for a stress free birth.

She generally supports with home births, with a midwife present as well (although she has been at home births where the baby came before the midwife). She also supports post-natally, offering breastfeeding support etc.

She loves it and is so good at it!
