What made me happy today?

After 36 years and 4 months with the same company, I submitted my official notice of retirement!
The house is sold, the closing date set, and soon I'll be leaving New Jersey for good and heading to "The First State", Delaware.

I got a vascectomy about 15 years ago.  I could be wrong (I certainly wasn't watching), but I want to say that the doctor used some sort of laser rather than a physical knife (of course, I'm not sure that's any more comforting!).

Right, I think there is less scalpel work now as they aren't cutting, they are doing something akin to cauterizing.

...and I recall feeling self-conscious during elementary school that my mother seemed much older than all my friends' parents.

I have noticed most of my daughter's friends' parents are younger than we are, and have wondered if she has noticed, though I doubt in her mind there is much difference between someone who is 35 and someone who is 45.

Just found out that my rental bicycle season pass has been extended to November 30th. Usually it expired on October 31st but apparently the demand skyrocketed this year so they extended it for a month. It helps me to cut about 30 minutes from my commute each day, pretty stoked about that.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

For the first alternating Thursday since October, 2015, I did not have a car payment come out of my bank account.

That's a nice feeling

Just recently at work we brought up, for the first time and after months of prepping and testing and learning these new devices, our new spine switches that can support 400Gb/s to each interface so this will allow us to grow and expand our technology backbone the platform.   Just finished the final touches with our lead network engineer and it's kind of amazing at the end of the day, what we can do with top of the line modern tech.  Apparently our platform had more money flowing into it than Google last quarter  :eek so we got to keep up with the Jones from a high speed network perspective.

Every time I saw this thread floating near the top of the subforum, I would search my brain really hard looking for something that made me genuinely happy that day, come up with nothing, and then press the back button. Today I'm really happy though. I can't disclose the trigger, but I can disclose the reason: we're all tied up in a feedback thread, making each others' lives better, looking out for each other. Humanity is good. Humanity is great, in fact.
