Jinjer is getting a lot of play around here lately, and more power to them, but I'm just not getting it. The first couple tunes I heard (no idea what they are) were interesting; I'm not into the growls, but the woman CAN sing, and the clean parts were just amazing, but the last couple, eh. The clean vocals were far more processed, and dropping the hip-hop-y verses in is so 1995. I'm not sure why you'd be tapping into your inner Limp Bizkit at this stage of the game, but I'm not the artist, so... Then drop in a "blast beatz" section, which is more current, but still circa 2001 (for me; I am aware of some of the history of blast beats), and I guess it's just not for me.

Apparently the modern trend for bands is to just dump a shitload of fuck into every song and see if it works. Five genres in one? Who cares, put it in!

They're pretty good from what I've heard, but apart from the vocals they're not really doing anything SikTh didn't already do back in 2003. SikTh were way ahead of of the curve, granted, but still.

That was a risky move, but I hope it pays out. It took me a few listens but it's one of my favourite songs of the year.
