I've had a couple of people try to submit stuff that is banned via the spreadsheet, so I wanted to make a general announcement to make sure that I've been clear about the banned list:

All the artists listed in the OP are banned.

All the artists listed in this spreadsheet are also banned, except for the ones highlighted in green. The ones highlighted in green are legal, but obviously the particular songs listed are banned.

This was indeed a bit of a risky choice, given that Fates Warning has not done much for me in the past. But as the snippet says, this time just feels different. Other songs I've heard from them have this very cold and almost sterile feel to them. I don't know if it's the live performance, or something else, but that is not the case here.

This song is a warm, powerful prog metal piece. The quiet early section is a solid build up, but the latter half is the real highlight. Here is where the best riffs and melodies come in. And it's where Ray Alder really shines. This is really good for a live performance. A lot of these parts just sound difficult to do with any sort of power, and he hits almost all of them.

Alright, I'm sold. I have to give Fates Warning another look.

The longest submission is 10:27. The shortest is 3:54. The average length is around 6:10.

The oldest submission is from 1973. There are three submissions from 2019, and seven of the submissions are from the 2010s.

Of the 12 submissions so far, I had only heard of six of the artists prior to receiving the submissions.
