Metal & Rock Covers of Pop Songs

Animal Drive - The Look (Roxette):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nA2_mvYr5Xk

I love metal covers of pop songs and this is one of the best I've ever heard.  Great production and video.

Oh yeah, they're Croatian band, the singer is one of the best if not the best Croatian singers. He also does solo acoustic shows.
Also, their debut wasn't too bad.

Gonna leave this cover of Die Young here, if anyone's interested
https://youtu.be/PBBt5y2iMvQ

And one of their original songs

I really liked their actual release - Bite!

But maybe this thread should be directed to share the covers we love?  Petfish, if you're up for that rename the thread.
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad
I fear for the day when something happens on the right that is SO nuts that even Stadler says "That's crazy".

Awesome.  It sure seems like a lot of these "amateur" bands have better production going on than pro bands.

Well, this is always the most obvious to me when this topic comes up:

Nevermore - The Sound Of Silence - https://youtu.be/2Tuls4GTebs

I have also pimped this cover quite a bit. I'm not sure if it exactly fits the category but is a much heavier take on the original. It's from the original singer of Flyleaf.

Lacey Sturm - Roxanne (Live) - https://youtu.be/z8U6-xcE2vU

Disturbed has done several. Shout, Land of Confusion, The Sound of Silence.

Halestorm has also done a few.

Bad Romance - https://youtu.be/Ll4NJs3NBIU

Get Lucky - https://youtu.be/scZY7VNV-Go

That's off the top of my head. I know there's more.
beul ni teh efac = Lube In The Face / That has to be wrong.  :lol / EDIT: Oh, it's Blue! I'm an idiot.
Pardon the interruption, but I just had to run in and celebrate the majesty of Lube in the Face as highest moment in roulette history

Speaking of Halestorm, I liked their cover of Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover from Sophie B. Hawkins.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzfdUAtnXAI

I think they also did 21 Pilots' Heathens (I hate that song honestly, never heard the Halestorm version though).

I don't remember how metal it is, but The Reasoning covered The Chauffeur by Duran Duran:

Not a cover of a pop song, but one of my favorite from 'back in the day' was Ugly Kid Joes cover of Cats in the Cradle. https://youtu.be/B32yjbCSVpU

A recent one by Toque (who do covers of Canadian hits) is a cover of The Headpins Don't it Make Ya Feel - https://open.spotify.com/track/4cKZV09D5XgKEif6OLTXS8?si=2sze_EUcQnSDPgfT4ALZ_A

Have you heard of Leo Moracchioli? He's done a crapload of covers of pop songs from different eras. I'm not really into covers per se, but some of these are pretty great.

Wow, that's weird.  I was watching football and on one of the commercials was some hipster band - sounded a little rockabilly/punkish - doing a cover of "My Way" by Sinatra (well, Paul Anka, really) and I was like "God, I'm so OVER the ironic cover of classic songs by smart-asses that don't get it", and then this thread.  :)

I'm really weird when it comes to covers.  I love the song "Baker Street", I like the Foo Fighters, but I hate their version of it.  To my mind, misses the essence of the song.  I dig Ugly Kid Joe's "Cat's Cradle".   I'm in on almost every one of Cheap Trick's Beatles covers.  I'm in on almost all of Oasis' covers (Heroes, Street Fightin' Man, You've Got To Hide Your Love Away, I Am The Walrus...).

There's a fine line there.

I like Five Finger Death Punch's covers more than I do their original songs.

And Within Temptation's Q-Sessions tracks are generally better than the originals.

I love me some WT but never really checked this out. Now that I see the tracklist, I think I only know three of those artists and two of those songs.

and on that note, I like their cover of "Welcome to the Machine". Sounds a lot punchier than the original from Pink Floyd.

But when it comes to metal covers of POP (Rap too?) songs, sometimes they work other times it sounds off. Here is one I don't think it works so well.
