JP.  He pretty much is on every album.

I was close to going with JP again.  But MP's drumming really brings the necessary punch for the metal direction of this album.

Yeah, I think I'm going with MP on this one. Really dig the punch he brings, like bosk said. Honor Thy Father, for example, it's all about the drums, I don't really consider the guitars or vocals on that one to be a driving force like the drums are.
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

JR for me, it really opened my eyes about how keyboards can really fit in a heavy album without just playing chords.

JP by a pretty wide margin.

This one was really hard for me and I was struggling between MP and JP but then I realized that Ruddess slays the keyboards on a Metal album. I think he had the "hardest" task and passed with flying colors.

MP and JP I think are pretty equal as far as a driving force, so it was really hard to choose.  But I ended up choosing JP because I love the guitar sound and a big part of being heavy is the guitar.

But in terms of actual weight instead of figurative weight, drums are heavier than the guitar  :loser:

Portnoy, followed by Petrucci. Not really surprising considering this is more of a metal album than a prog album. imo this has some of MP's best drum parts, and JP gets a lot of killer riffs and solos here.

I went with Portnoy for this one. Petrucci plays a huge part in driving this album, but his solos are a bit too wanky and not melodic enough for my taste on this one (As I Am excluded, that solo is incredible).
