I kind of like the "loop thing" a little bit, though I'm not sure it's worth basing an entire act on.   I absolutely DESPISE whatever it is that it's called that he does in most (all?) of his verses.  The hip-hoppy rhythmic thing.  Imagine Dragons does that a lot as well.

It's not because I don't like hip-hop, it's because it's too easy.  It doesnt' mesh well, in my opinoin.  It's like on TV when someone says "oh I rap" and they say "show us something" and they do the same old tired cadence, in 4/4 time with perfect rhymes on the end and the obligatory self-reference.  It's too cliched to even be a cliche at this point.

Gimme a break, it's Monday morning and I haven't had coffee yet.

I'm listening to Shape of You right now and I genuinely don't understand the 'hip-hoppy rhythmic thing' you dislike. There are a few Imagine Dragons songs I like too but I don't exactly know what you're referencing. Could you clear that up a bit for me? Is it literally just the 'da, da, da da, da, da' rhythm of the instrument underneath the vocals?

I'll find an example; hang on....

Not the best one, but the part from about 0:38 to about 0:46, especially the last two seconds or so.  He does it again about 1:45 to about 1:52, again, especially the last couple seconds.  2:44 AGAIN.    https://youtu.be/IhP3J0j9JmY

I'll find some Sheeran (why am I torturing myself like this??  :)   ).

Same reason you watch CNN. You're a masochist.

EDIT: I see what you're getting at. I don't mind it personally but I could see why people don't like it.

Lucky Stars is one of the best songs on the album lol
Meanwhile Old Flames is the best song on the album and probably at least top 20 Coheed, what the heck  :lol

Lucky Stars is definitely in the top 5 on the album and I agree Old Flames is #1 (although not a top 20 song for me).

If we're talking Coheed I'd say Al the Killer is one of their worst and certainly one of their most overrated, up there with Domino the Destitute.

I can agree about Domino, that ones pretty weak though Al The Killer is an amazing track with one if the most intense choruses they have imo.

A lot of people love Old Flames...I just don’t get it. How is that a favorite when something like Toys, Queen of The Dark, and The Pavilion are also on the same album?

My least favourite DT song is everything off The Astonishing.

You know, I was going to say The Dark Eternal Night, but you're right about most (not all) of TA.

There are not many songs I actively dislike, for I tend to find something funny or unexpected even in so-called ‘bad’ songs. Here’s a couple for the purpose of this thread:

Dream Theater - Burning My Soul
Mr. Bungle - Dead Goon
The Devin Townsend Project - Grace
dredg - The Tent
Pain of Salvation - Mrs. Modern Mother Mary

and there’s a lot of bands or artists I just can’t choose a ‘worst’ song from, either because the output is too consistent, or because I don’t want to choose.
Hey dude slow the fuck down so we can finish together at the same time.

It’s not my least favorite DTP song, but Grace is extremely underwhelming for how much love it seems to get.

Out of all the DTP songs, yes. I find it annoying and its stupid nonsense lyrics don’t help.

Well, tastes and all that, but are you sure you're thinking of Grace? I don't really see any nonsense in Grace's lyrics... and Lucky Animals is way worse with its lyrics.  :lol Tastes!

and Lucky Animals is awesome because it doesn’t try to be pretentious

There's nothing pretentious about Grace, wtf.  :rollin I don't understand you!

I've never really thought too hard about it but 'high road warning' - could relate somehow to 'taking the high road.' Some kind of lyric about morality maybe. I'll have to play the song later and chew on it

After some consideration:
Rush - Madrigal, Chemistry, I Think I’m Going Bald
Dream Theater - Just about anything from BC&SL
Queensrÿche - Of their pre HITNF songs, Gonna Get Close to You and Disconnected
Journey - Back Talk
Threshold - Keep My Head

I've been thinking about this as well.

Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Blur - A Spell For Money. I can usually forgive them for being weird, but this is an out of tune racket.
Warpaint - Krimson.  Off key singing annoys me, sounds like a demo.
I'm sure there's at least one DT and Metallica song I don't like much but I can't think of any.
"I don't know nuttin about nuttin" - Marshawn Lynch

The very soul of what was once real music is now lost in a digital quagmire of emotionless sonic madness.

Dream Theater - A Rite of Passage
I mean, at least the Dark Eternal Night caught your attention over how completely over the top it was. But there is absolutely nothing memorable about A Rite of Passage.

Metallica - Better than You / Invisible Kid
Better than You has the absolute worst lyrics I've ever heard in a Metallica song and, again, there is nothing memorable about this song whatsoever. Invisible Kid is tied with it for the corny early 2000 Nu-metal lyrics, standard St. Anger sound, and mostly because of Hetfield's off-key vocals. I know it's supposed to sound that way, I don't care.

Grace is probably my least favorite song on Epicloud in part due to how overhyped it was while also just not being that interesting. I don't think it's the worst Devin song period though, not at all lol

End Game is bad AND it's not fun. It takes itself too seriously tbh and the production doesn't slap hard enough to make up for the bad presentation.

Also Ed Sheeran raps on it and that's just unforgivable
Point taken! At least Brendon Urie brought some goddamn vocals to ME!

Nice to discuss T Swift on the Dream Theater forums  :lol
