Yeah I think I'm alright for this round because Loch Vostok got a 9 and this song is better, but I think it's pretty much impossible for me to catch up with that seven points gap. Not mathematically impossible, maybe you'll screw up big time that last round, but I'm pretty sure the winner here is decided already.

I'm still baffled by 3.5 for The Ivy Gate tbh I'll probably send some random metal song next.

ROUND 7 RESULTS

Evermind: Galahad - Empires Never Last

You (almost) again overdid yourself! Just when I think you can’t send more epic song it’s just there on the line of epic and cheesy but fortunately, it never crosses it. I like how singer’s voice goes from whispery to melodic to gritty. There’s really everything in it, even great riffing, solos and great guitarwork in general.

Cyril: Arcane Roots - Half the World

Got this band already but somehow never checked them out even though I liked that song (Curtains). This one’s even better and I’m sure I’ll start listening to them now. This song is pretty heavy but at the same time very emotional. The only thing I don’t like about it is that’s it’s a bit overlong for what it is but ok, still pretty great.

Kwyjibo: Insomnium - Shadows Of The Dying Sun

The biggest grower of the round. Didn’t see the appeal at first until I started listening with better headphones. Sonically, this is great stuff. Whispered vocals are a bit of an acquired taste and I’m not crazy about those but growls are simply magnificent and melodies are catchy. Reminds me of band Hypocrisy. It’s been a while since I listened to this kind of melodeath, I guess it’s time to start again.

Puppies_On_Acid: VNV Nation – Perpetual

Didn’t expect this from you, to be honest It’s a bit over the top electronic but that’s the way I like it. Reminds me of Editors (check them out), even the singers have similar voices. It just has great melodies, both vocal and instrumental and that’s how I like my music to be. Even though it’s electronic it’s still really heavy and rocking. I guess this might be my favourite of yours (it’s there with Teramaze).

wolfking: Frost* - Black Light Machine

I guess I expected more from this, to be honest. Don’t know what I expected but something different, I guess. It’s still a nice song, especially soloing part. Unfortunately, I find vocal melodies to be a bit tedious and not that interesting and that’s something I pay great attention to. But yeah, guitar solo is really great and lifts song few levels up. Said that, I still pretty much love the song (see the score, it’s not that bad) but I just expected it to knock me off my feet.

Well, this is… different But this time in a good way. It’s pretty weird but never goes too much over the top or super weird. Feels really dreamy and the sound is huge. However, I just don’t enjoy it as much as some other, more traditional stuff and your score reflects that. Still pretty good.

Stadler: Angels And Airwaves - Secret Crowds

This is really not something I’d listen to myself these days, maybe when I was younger when I liked Green Day. Never the less, this is still a great tune. Melodies are catchy and singable, lyrics are good as well and it has a some great energy. As I said, I can’t see myself listening to it too often but I’m still glad I got some different rock music.

Another great song, maybe just a bit generic. But given I liked the latest Evergrey and this sounds similar and features Tom, I’m happy The other singer is good as well, their voices are different but complement each other. As I said, I find it a bit generic but this actually seems like something I’d listen to so thank you.

Kattelox: Burt Bacharach & Elvis Costello - I'll Never Fall In Love Again

Yeah, very romantic song, feels kinda nostalgic and it reminds me of 80s more than late 90s. I’m not that crazy about his voice to be honest, it’s too breathy for my taste. The thing that won me over and made it more than ok was actually that trumpet, love the melody even though it’s repetitive. Ear worm but in a good way.

FlyingBIZKIT: Gavin Castleton - Underestimate Me

Sounded boring at first but it has grown on me quite a bit. His voice is really nice, I like the timbre, and vocal melodies are singable, at moments almost jazzy. Reminds me of Jeff Buckley a lot. Still, at the end too samey to get better score but it’s a nice song.

Another nice song but it kinda got lost among other stuff this round, it was pretty strong. I guess I’d rate it better if other songs weren’t this good. The thing I like the most about it are vocal melodies and atmosphere, especially during the trumpet part, it sounds like something from David Lynch movie.
