Really happy Subsignal did so well. :)  Not sure how much else I have in that vein, but I'll take a took.

Sent something much heavier for round 2... fingers crossed.
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

TAC: Idle Hands - Dragon, Why Do You Cry?

This one wasn’t my favourite song from the start but it has grown on me quite a bit. Even though it’s pretty short I find it to be very deep and has enough for me to come back to it again and again. It hits that sweet spot between being heavy and emotional, it can’t really go wrong if you send me such song. Guy’s voice reminds me of David Gold (Woods of Ypres) a lot (my girlfriend actually though it was him). I can’t decide my favourite part of the song, there is epic chorus, that countdown and guitar solo, verses are cool as well. This is pretty damn close to being perfect song for me and score reflects it.

12 points

Nice! Didn't expect 1st place, but I thought you might like it given how you mentioned you love The Smiths. I've referred to Idle Hands as a hard rock version of The Smiths.

This is actually my AOTY so far.

The singer, and a couple other members were part of a more classic heavy metal band Spellcaster. their album is very good, but quite different to this.

Sent depressing music in Round 2.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

First thing I checked after I saw the high score. :)

Tomislav - what Sieges Even have you heard that they're banned?  If you haven't listened to their 2000s albums, definitely do - it's the same singer and guitar player from Subsignal.

I know only The Art of Navigating by the Stars. And I'm not too familiar with it but I didn't want to receive bands I already know, even if by only few songs.

I think Katt will vouch for me on this, but if you're interested in the "outlaw country" genre, dig further into Waylon (that man can play guitar for real), but if I was to recommend one album, it would be "Kristofferson", his debut.  More mellow than Waylon, but it's an intense listen and really has the philosophical roots of the genre.  It's also got the original version of "Me And Bobby McGee" before Janis Joplin made a mockery of it (Interesting fact:  there is a version before Kristofferson's, by Roger Miller, and Janis came to know the song when Kris played it to her directly.  They were banging at the time.)

Hank, Jr. is always good, too, but he's got a LOT of filler in his catalogue.  I'd stick with "The Pressure Is On" for an original album, or a greatest hits package.

I totally agree with this. Stads sent me the Kristofferson album in my album roulette, and the same Waylon Jennings in my last roulette, and some Hank, Jr. I can't recommend that Kristofferson album enough. Really good stuff.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

Quote
This builds up nicely but I actually like the stripped down part better.

Emotions make it more interesting that anything else.

Totally boring and forgetful, can't even think of anything else about the song lol.

Even though the song is not too long I feel like I'll need some time to really get everything that's happening and eventually like it. Now it's just blurry thing in my head.

Just some really powerful stuff. But hoped for something „big“ to happen and it didn't.

To be honest, the song could be cut in half and I wouldn't miss anything. Other than that it's fine.

Heavy and beautiful at the same time. Love the soaring guitars.

I guess you get me, this is like me in a song.

Stylistically, probably the most interesting song I got so far, has that “classical” feel.

Sounds too generic, I don’t think it’ll grow on me but we’ll see.

Not nearly the best thing this genre has to offer and while being ok song I don’t think I’ll ever see it as more than it.

If I didn’t know, I’d say this song is much older. Vocals reminds me of older bands and that’s a bit of a turn off.

Not the first time I’m hearing this band but this is the most memorable thing of theirs I heard. Accidentally or not, it’s also the most melancholic.

My first impression about this round is that there is even bigger gap between the best and worsts songs...
