Warforged - CellarFirst Impressions:
Hits hard as hell, and has a good amount of variety as well. This was intense. The first couple minutes of this song are some of the heaviest stuff I’ve gotten in the whole roulette, and I must say, it’s pretty great. It’s aggressive, it’s punchy, and the odd rhythm just makes it feel even more frenzied. But where the song really starts to win me over is a couple minutes in, where it suddenly launches into a brighter chord progression with some added melodic lines in the background, while still maintaining the intensity from before. If the first part was like plunging into darkness, this part is like being blinded by the sun. Given how heavy and aggressive the song’s been up to this point, I sure wasn’t expecting this section to be followed up with a calm, acoustic guitar-driven part. It definitely gives me some Opeth vibes, and I love how the last leg of the song borrows some motifs from this section and gives them much heavier instrumentation. There’s also some fantastic riffs and soloing in the final few minutes, and by the time the song is over, it hardly feels like nearly nine minutes went by. Awesome track from start to finish, and I’ll definitely listen to the rest of this album at some point.
2nd Place: Sacul (+12 Points)
DJ Shadow - Midnight In A Perfect WorldFirst Impressions:
Really nice soothing vibe here. Not quite as substantive as some of the other stuff you’ve sent, but a really chill listen.Another great atmospheric piece from you. The main electronic piano line super chill; it really does create a vivid and peaceful night time atmosphere. The additional layers like the soft piano melodies and various vocal samples all work great with the vibe as well, and keep things interesting throughout. As far as I know, most of the song is comprised of samples, and I’m incredibly impressed at how cohesively and tactfully they’re assembled together. The only one that feels the slightest bit out of place is the “N-N-N-N-NOW APPROACHING MIDNIIIIIGHT” sample that’s a bit too hype for the otherwise relaxing mood. Outside of the excellent atmosphere and sample mixing, there’s not a ton to this song, but for what it is it’s done incredibly well, and it’s short enough to not overstay its welcome for me.

Prince - Purple RainFirst Impressions:
A bit outside my wheelhouse, and longer than I was expecting. Could win me over, could just be okay. Not much of what I listen to would be considered romantic, but if I had to describe the atmosphere of this song in a single word, that’s what I’d choose. The soft strings, the dreamy guitar, and the passionate vocals all come together to create that vibe, and while I initially wasn’t sure if it was my thing, it did win me over after a while. The verses still don’t do too much for me, but every other part of the song is great. The choruses are super catchy, and the lead-ins to them are very smooth. The extended outro is the main highlight, with the guitar soloing and Prince’s wordless vocal melodies creating an emotional and climactic finale. Even after the final explosion of drums and guitar, there’s still some beautiful guitar and piano to make the ending even better. I can definitely see why this is considered a classic.

A Perfect Circle - The PackageFirst Impressions:
Kinda sounds like a watered-down version of Tool, but hey, there might be something here that reveals itself in time.I thought this song was decent, but I wanted to like it more than I did. It’s a pretty cheap comparison given that they both share the same vocalist, but I can’t help but think that this song sounds a lot like Tool, except with less interesting instrumentation. It does have a lot of dynamic range between the quiet first half and the heavier second half, and I do like the riff towards the end that doubles the bassline quite a lot. Apart from that though, I just found the composition to be kinda basic and boring. The vocals are somewhat disappointing as well; I usually have zero problems with Maynard as a vocalist, but his falsetto in the choruses here is a little annoying, and his gaspy growls in the more aggressive sections don’t sound too great to me. While this song didn’t impress me that much, maybe I’ll check this band out again in the future if I’m really desperate for more Tool-related stuff. After all, it’s not like that fifth album is ever coming out...

Scale The Summit - OdysseyFirst Impressions:
Not bad, but a full album of this would bore me to tears. To be frank, I avoid most guitar-focused instrumental rock / metal like the plague. After a few songs, I’m just completely uninterested. I can handle it in small doses though, so I still enjoyed this song a decent amount. As one would expect, the guitar work here is pretty great, especially in the riff department. The intro riff sticks out in my mind as being particularly great, and the lead guitar does a very good job at enhancing the underlying rhythm throughout the track. The song’s a bit one-note as a whole though. There’s a brief clean section in the middle, but outside of that it doesn’t go anywhere too interesting, and the ending feels very abrupt. Like I said in my first impressions, this was a decent song, but I don’t have much desire to hear more of it.

[ALL PERKS USED]And with that, we have our final three! Sorry Ruba and Nekov, you both did great, but Kattleox managed to squeeze his way into the final round next to Sacul and Cyril. And sorry Cyril, you weren't quite able to catch up to Sacul's score.
---FINAL ROUND: FULL ALBUM---This is it, folks! The final round! Sacul, Cyril, and Kattleox will face off against each other one last time, but instead of sending a single song this round, they'll each be sending a full-length album. Score no longer matters at this point. Whoever sends the best album and wins this round will win the entire roulette.
A couple additional rules:
- The album can't be more than 80 minutes. None of that double-LP nonsense here.
- You can send an album from an artist that's already been sent this roulette, as long as they aren't banned and the song that was sent isn't on the album you're sending.
And with that, good luck! Place your bets people - will Sacul continue his reign of dominance and win it all? Will Cyril become a two-time champion? Or will the underdog Kattleox steal the crown away from both of them? The quality of the albums will decide it all.
