Favorites of these 5-album runs

You can vote for up to 3.

I obviously went with studio albums runs, without taking into account EP's, live albums, etc.

Porcupine Tree is my favorite of these options.

The other two spots I have narrowed down to Rush, The Beatles, Opeth and Queensryche.

I can't vote for Floyd due to my distaste with The Final Cut.  Same with Neal Morse and the average Lifeline.

Fuck, I only voted for one.  Jumped the gun.

Iron Maiden.

Sabbath and probably Queensryche would have been my other two.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Maiden is my favorite, didn't need to pick others.
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

I have to go with Rush, Opeth, and Porcupine Tree

Metallica's Black album is fairly mediocre to me
Led Zeppelin III is pretty lackluster
Yes just barely lost out to PT
Iron Maiden's Somewhere in Time isn't a favorite of mine
The Final Cut is mostly terrible
Same with Promised Land
Of those Neal Morse albums I really only like ? and Sola Scriptura
Haken was a close contender, but not quite as good as the 3 I chose
Was never a huge Black Sabbath fan, but do enjoy parts of all of those albums
The Universal Migrator albums never really did much for me.
The Lamb is half good and half bad
And I really only like 3 of those Beatles albums.

Derek Sherinian probably stands 10 feet away from the urinal, shoots from downtown, and announces loudly that he's making history.

Queensryche and Genesis were easy choices for me.  Third choice came down to Yes, Porcupine Tree and Iron Maiden.  Even though the Maiden and PT runs are incredibly consistent, the Yes run has the most high points for me, despite my feeling that Tales isn’t on the same level as the other four records, so I went with Yes.

Opeth, Ayreon, and The Beatles. That was unbelievably difficult. Pink Floyd, Yes, Haken, and Neal Morse could all easily sub in for one of them. The only reason I didn't pick those was:

Floyd: I don't like The Wall too much, and I've never heard The Final Cut. WYWH and DSotM are 10/10 albums and Animals is close, which makes it really painful.
Yes: Tales from Topographic Oceans was the only reason they weren't a shoe-in. I love the other albums to death.
Haken: Aquarius and Visions are okay, and Veil is eh. The Mountain is my favorite non DT album tho.
Neal Morse: I like most of those albums tbh, and love Sola Scriptura and Testimony. I just am not as familiar with the other 3 because he's not on Spotify for some reason.

Some great individual albums in most of the options, but the choice is relatively easy for me on the whole.

Porcupine Tree
Yes
Rush

If it was a 4 album run, I'd go with Floyd w/out Final Cut as 1, Rush w/out MP as 1a. I like them both a lot, but not as much as their respective previous 4.

Maiden, QR, and Ayreon are the only others where I own all the albums in the run, and really the only other bands I am big fans of. But their respective runs I cannot rate as high.

So PF, Rush, QR.

Miaden, Floyd, and Rush.

I think there are better runs by the listed bands.

Genesis:  The Lamb - Trick - Wind - Duke - Abacab
Sabbath: Vol. 4 - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath - Sabotage - Technical Ecstasy - Never Say Die
Zeppelin:  II - III - ZOSO - Houses Of The Holy - Physical Graffiti
Rush: A Farewell To Kings - Hemispheres - Permanent Waves - Moving Pictures - Signals

Fuck, I also only voted for one, that being Iron Maiden. My other two votes would have gone to Pink Floyd (I'm a huge fan of The Final cut) and The Beatles. Metallica, Queenryche, Yes and Porcupine Tree are also awesome runs.

Maiden for sure.

Then Metallica, and then for lack of better options, or to be more precise, lack of in depth knowledge of the other bands involved's catalogue, Queensryche.
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

1. Pink Floyd (as much as I love The Final Cut, a better 5 studio album run would start at Meddle and end with The Wall, bypassing Obscured by Clouds, which is a soundtrack).

2. Genesis. Pretty much any 5-album run of theirs would fit here (except those that include the debut or Calling All Stations), but the one chosen is definitely a great one.

3. The Beatles. Probably the most musically 'important' run of albums on this poll, and a great body of work to boot.

Just missed the cut: Zepellin.

Not on the list but would have made the number 3 spot: Dire Straits (debut - Brothers in Arms).

Maiden (no downers)
Metallica (don’t care for the self-titled)
Beatles (MMT and TB not as strong as first 3)

Rush would be closer if it included Signals instead.

In this order:
1.  Queensryche:  Even though The Warning is the lower point in that run for me, and it would have been a LOT stronger had the option gone from Rage through HITNF, this is still an incredible run.  Rage through PL may be my favorite 4 album run of all time.
2.   Metallica:  ...But the four album run of Ride through the Black album is a VERY close second.  Don't care about KEA, and never will.
3.  Neal Morse:  See, the thing is, even on the two clunkers in that run of ? and Lifeline, there are still some outstanding songs.  And the other three are some of my favorite albums of all time.

Other honorable mentions:
-Floyd:  My Floyd fandom is sporadic.  There are some great albums in there, and some that I haven't heard.  I don't "get" everything they do, but I like a lot of it.
-Maiden:  Incredibly inconsistent album with Powerslave, but some of their best songs on that one.  And a truly awful album in Seventh Son.  But some REALLY strong material in that run.
-I'm okay with Sabbath, Genesis, and the Beatles, but just fans of a few songs here and there, so I couldn't even remotely vote them up in a poll like this.

Not a chance I would vote for any of the other bands and not even sure why they are mentioned.
