Hi, everyone. So, these two guys called Leonardo and Juan are working on a documentary on math rock called
Growing Aside, which they expect to release next year. Three days ago, they set up a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo, with a short trailer featuring Nikk Hunter of the Fecking Bahamas website; you can check it out here:
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/growing-aside-a-math-rock-documentaryInitially, the focus of the film was going to be the local, Argentinian scene, which basically revolves around the bands on the Anomalía label. (Juan is a drummer and producer of some of those bands.) However, the guys eventually decided to tell a more encompassing story, by including footage and interviews of other bands around the world.
The good news is, so far they've gathered 74% of their US$2000 goal, and they still have 8 weeks to come up with the rest! So, it looks like the campaign will be successful!
If you are interested in Leonardo's and Juan's film, but you can't collaborate with money, no problem! According to the campaign's site, you can also help the guys by:
- Sending them audiovisual material from your hometown to growingaside@gmail.com
- Translating from japanese / chinese
- Giving them a place to crash anywhere in UK
- Sharing this project on your social media and to possible sponsors
Oh, and - according to their FAQ section: if you'd like to appear with your band in the documentary, you can contact the guys. Seems like they'd love to include everyone!
