Round 5 theme:

THE YOUNG GUNS
One of my gripes with modern music is that even when I find some band I like, the members are at least on their thirties. I have hard time finding good music people my age are making. Show me I don't belong into a lost generation. Send me something by people born in 1990 or later (if it's band a member or two may be older).

Note: I know this theme might be a little more difficult than the previous ones, because information is not always available. Of course you don't have to go searching for birth certificates, but if you send me a bunch of dudes with greying beards I'll get suspicious.

Deadline May 24th 10 a.m. U.S. Eastern/3 p.m. Greenwich time

we'll both agree that you're wrong and move on  :metal

i have a band i want to send but i'm having a hell of a time identifying the band members' ages
nvm, found an article from 2011 that puts them all in their mid 20's so that's a big no-go

i think the real difficulty of this theme is going to be finding artists who i can actually find info about the ages of, lol
edit: looked into a half dozen potential candidates so far. only able to find band member info for the first one i looked into, which wasn't eligible

this round's gonna be interesting and/or impossible  :lol

That's what I thought of and if it's too hard I can amend it a little.

Even if there's no years of birth available, I guess you can get a rough idea from year of formation/debut album, promo pictures, whether the band members have been in other bands before etc.

Riding high! Kickass.

This will be an interesting theme. I have an Avantasia concert tonight so I'll send my song tomorrow.

That's better than I expected. :lol Yeah I guess you won't like Cult of Luna then, the Julie Christmas feature was a one-off I'm pretty sure. There's a pretty cool band called Khoma which is more like a prog version of Cult of Luna with clean vocals, I'm personally not super into that big contrast of a fairly high pitched prog vocalist with super punchy sludge instrumentation though..

Sent Greta Van Fleet :metardica:

8 points: TAC
Aeolias – Odysseus

Great drum sounds and a lovely driving beat. The vocals feel maybe slightly too operatic for my tastes.

Yeah, so apparently these guys are super unknown. I can’t really think a reason for that based on this song. Production is very good. The drummer is a real powerhouse and the build-up at the beginning is seriously cool. I’m not the biggest fan of the vocals, it almost feels like at points she’s singing an unrelated song. But she has a cool menacing tone. It’s an interesting nine-minute journey. An odyssey if you will.

:lol  at the bolded part. I agree, and yes it is menacing.

This is one of the shortest songs on the album actually. It's a great album and I really enjoy it. Kind of out there for sure.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

So I had to truck my daughter and six of her friends yesterday and today, and both days a Billie Eyelash song came on, and the whole car went nuts, but I was like, "Wha?"    I didn't get it.  Not to say it's bad, I just didn't get it.

Was one of them ocean eyes? The stuff on her new debut album is dark and strange and uncomfortable at times. ocean eyes is beautiful :)

She currently has a top 5 hit in the US so I'd say she's pretty popular with the kids atm

Also I'd place a good bet on the two songs being bad guy and bury a friend

I read it as Pertubator the whole time.
