6 Betrayal(s)

A Better Change of Seasons (both ridiculosly easy)

Space Dye Scarred (so easy it's not even funny)

Ravenskill Turbulence (Sorry STM)

Paralyzed Prophets

Overture Attack

Our New Illusions (Sorry TW, luv ya)

The Gift of Tuscany (a vacation maybe?)

Strange Surrounded (both strong opponents)

..........and I was sure I clicked on The Bigger Picture but I see from the poll that it didn't register. Shame on me.
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

The decisions are getting harder as stronger songs start to go head to head.   But some easy decisions are still here too.

1. Sacrificed Sons (really hard)
2. Heaven's Cove (another really hard one.  I usually go for the track that stands on its own better (as is the case here) but even though HC is a bit more "transition-y", its just plain more beautiful too.)
3. A Better Life (competition was extremely weak. Easy)
4. A Change of Seasons (easy...but 137 is awesome)
5. Raise the Knife (this was hard. But the epic takes it)
6. Scarred (easy)
7. Ravenskill (easy)
8. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (EXTREMELY easy)
9. Stream of Consciousness (pretty easy...both are great.  Just decided to go with the perfect instrumental over the perfect radio single)
10. Status Seeker (super easy.  And probably the only face off SS should win.  PoW is the NY Knicks of this competition.)
11. Overture 1928 (easy)
12. Panic Attack (easy)
13. Our New World (easy)
14. Breaking All Illusions (somewhat difficult. It's hard to go against TW, but BAI is just that good)
15. A Life Left Behind (easy)
16. One Last Time (fairly easy)
17. The Bigger Picture (REALLY easy....OTBOA is decent, but I don't get the overwhelming praise it receives. It's above average)
18. Strange Deja Vu (pretty easy.  Still love PMU and how it made me feel the first time.  But if I had to listen to one or the other, I would pick SDV)
19. Surrounded (really hard.  Love both)

A few tough choices today and a few very easy choices....

1. Sacrificed Sons (over 6:00 -- VERY tough choice)
4. A Change of Seasons (over Room 137)
5. Space-Dye Vest (over an FII reject)
6. Scarred (over a video game song)
8. SDOIT (over Regression)
9. Stream of Consciousness (over Paralyzed)
10. Status Seeker (over Prophets of War)
11. Overture 1928 (over a TA song)
12. Panic Attack (over Take Away My Pain)
13. The Answer Lies Within (over a TA song)
14. Breaking All Illusions (over These Walls)
16. The Count of Tuscany (over One Last Time)
17. The Bigger Picture (over On the Backs of Angels -- tough choice)
18. Strange Deja Vu (over Pull Me Under)
19. Pale Blue Dot (over Surrounded -- VERY tough choice)

Also I'm gonna hedge a guess that arch-6DOIT-hater Parama voted for Regression over 6DOIT.

SDOIT vs Through My Words?

And I know the NOMAC tracks aren't included here, but imagine SDOIT vs The Hovering Sojourn?

I agree a little...but I suppose I'm not far off myself.   With the exception of TDEN, I'm almost guaranteed to vote against any SC song.  But I will at least give it a thought and a mention.    And even if two SC songs were against each other, I would hold my nose and vote for one.

I don't vote when it's two TA songs against each other because I don't know them well enough to make an informed decision.  And, while I know the FII reject songs well enough, I just don't want to vote for them when they're up against TA tracks or each other.

This is what I've been doing as well.

I feel like if it were two TA tracks against each other, my voting for one or the other would be pretty arbitrary, as little of the album resonates with me at all. I wouldn't want to cast a vote that could skew results one way over another when there are others who have stronger feelings on those songs than I whose votes should matter more.

Sorry...I also skipped voting in Repentance v. a TA song because I refuse to vote for Repentance as a matter of principle.

Ya...but you guys vote when it's other "Song A I don't like vs Song B I don't like".

Also, it's hard to believe that people literally like NOTHING from TA.   I mean, I think SC is a terrible album, and contains at least 3 of the worst songs DT has ever written.   But even I can tolerate TDEN, TMOLS, and maybe Forsaken on a good day.   And you're telling me you find NOTHING in Our New World or A Life Left Behind or The Gift of Music at least?

This is more meant to reach out and encourage greater participation than it is to criticize.

EDIT - and for the record....if I come across a couple of TA songs that aren't jarring my memory, I will take a quick listen (not to the whole thing, just to refresh me on which song title goes to which melody) and then give my opinion....which should count as much as anyone else's.

Can't speak for pg, but truthfully I haven't come across a match up in the survivor so far in which I absolutely didn't like both songs. And I imagine if I did, and they weren't TA tracks, I would more than likely have a stronger opinion about them. I guess with the TA ones I just can't be bothered?

And for the record, I'm not saying I like 0 songs off the album. I do enjoy TGOM and ANB a fair amount, and have voted those in the past. My initial post was more a broad generalization. I think the way I've voted is just a result of how unmemorable I find the album as a whole. No disrespect to anyone who enjoys it more than I of course.

As far as a match up where I didn’t like both songs....look no farther than Status Seeker vs. Prophets of War for me.  Talk about a stink fest.  I only voted for SS by way of the fact that it CANNOT get worse than POW.

Damn, On the Backs of Angels and The Bigger Picture are tied. If I had actually clicked on TBP as I intended to do, it would take the lead.

EDIT: ok, now OTBOA is leading with 2 votes more.

If it's Repentance v. The Great Debate, I might very well not vote because, while I think Repentance is the absolute worst song in DT's catalog, which necessarily means TGD is "better," neither song is good enough to deserve a vote.

As far as TA goes, it's not a matter of not liking anything, it's a matter of not being sufficiently familiar to form an informed opinion.  And, since there are so many TA songs, there's almost guaranteed to be at least one TA v. TA matchup every time, so I'm not going to take the time to listen solely for purposes of these polls.  Another couple of thorough listens to TA is on my agenda at some point, so listening on YouTube while I'm at work is not the way I want to become familiar with TA.
