Himalayan Database says 11 deaths (9 on the Nepal side and 2 on the Tibet side):

4- Crowd Related (this is horrible... dying while waiting to summit)
4- Health Related
2- Altitude Related
1- Fall

From the reviews I've read, the Jet Stream was "wobbly" this year and the summit window was somewhat truncated during late May; this likely played a large part in the summit rush that caused the back-up from the photos we've seen.  Last season, I think they had 9 or 10 straight days with a perfect weather window and a record number of summits (something like 800 summits in 2018).. that didn't happen this year.

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter; Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man."  Ecclesiastes 12:13

Now with Twitler taking a high end steak of this caliber and insulting the cow that died for it by having it well done just shows zero respect for the product, which falls right in line with the amount of respect he shows for pretty much everything else.- Lonestar

I'd put money on him hanging out with Carol Baskin's husband.

I think about this thread every few weeks. Hell just the other day it popped into my head when I heard someone talk about Everest.
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

There has to be in the database the mail used for registration I guess.

Still wonder about the Trooper from time to time. I'm hopeful that he just forgot his login credentials or maybe he had some huge epiphany while standing atop the world and realized online forums are meaningless in the grand scheme of existence........

Maybe. But it'd be a pretty niche thing to come and start a thread about just because. I imagine it was all true, and he's probably fine.

I went through a period of Everest fascination about five years ago. Could never climb it, or indeed any hill of note, since I really am terrible with heights, but it's fascinating to read about. I couldn't even get out of the car at a spot in Death Valley a few years ago :lol

Ok pure speculation here, but I think the title track is all about the forum member who was going to Everest and then just disappeared. A tribute is sorts.

Wow, I totally forgot about that. Hope he’s okay and just moved on. Maybe the new record will draw him back? (Anyone remember the guy’s name?)

Pretty sure he shuffled off this mortal coil, unfortunately.

Why are you pretty sure? Do you know something?

According to Wiki, three American climbers died on Everest in 2019.

1. Chris Daly, age 35, died April 20, 2019
2. Donald Cash, age 55, died May 22, 2019
3. Christopher John Kulish, age 62, May 27, 2019

The Trooper shows his age as 54 in his DTF profile.

@Bosk, can you confirm if any of these are The Trooper?

Also this:

According to this video, Donald Cash climbed the highest peak on each continent..

https://youtu.be/5p_KErg28xw?t=90

And The Trooper posted this..

lol see my Everest thread. 29,000 feet guess explains it :P :mehlin :mehlin :mehlin

Summit baby

Ill skydive from 15,000 feet. climb 5 of the highest peaks in the world.

I don't know if I will make Everest. Something I NEED to do, May sound selfish. and that is ok. I may die, im ok with that,  lol I have dodged death in Syria, iran, Afghanistan, when your time is up its up

Here's Don Cash's Instagram page.

Or he enjoyed a view from the top of the world and now can't post anymore because he talked to DT, and they don't want us to know where they got the idea for the new album from.

I'm still very curious about this. I love all things mountaineering so would love to read a whole write up from him and see cool pics.
Hopefully the guy is alright and maybe he just totally forgot about this post/forum, what with all the "climbing highest peaks of the world stuff"
That or he is following this and getting a kick from it and not responding, which would be just rude sir. >:(

...and....he'd been a member since 2013 with over 1200 posts so it's not like he was a 'stranger'. I'd imagine this is an accomplishment he'd want to share with as many people as possible once completed. That's why it seems hard to imagine that he just said 'F' it and hasn't logged back in....that, something more drastic has hamstrung him from logging on.

Shit totally missed this. I'm guessing this is Marc Lamendola, we were FB friends and he used to write for the webzine when it started. His FB page has been dead for ages, long before this thread was started.

did a quick google search. Is this him?

Probably. He had a kid named Aiden, found it mentioned in past Facebook post
