Greatest film protagonists

Friends and me had this discussion last night. Some of the answers were fun and some from left field. Just wondering the DTF community thoughts.

Luke Skywalker has some classic hero archetypes. Can you walk up to any moron on the street, say the name Luke Skywalker, and have them not have any idea who you are talking about?

I think it's very easy for me, in the classic sense of the word protagonist - Andy Dufresne from The Shawshank Redemption. Frank Darabont did wonderful things with those characters. Glad to see Logain had the same pick  :metal

A lot of main characters in films that I love tend to be hugely flawed and downright despicable. Alex DeLarge from A Clockwork Orange is a great example. I'm not sure if I could call him a protagonist given the context of his actions and character, however.
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.
