Vote for which grouping you like the best.

This was tough, but I went with 3, just barely over 2.

Tough call between 1 and 4; went with 4 because Uptown Girl.

Billie Jean: 2
Every Breath You Take: 4
Dancing in the Dark: 1
Total: 7

Careless Whisper: 1
Devil Inside: 3 (would have given it a 5 back in time)
Your Wildest Dreams: 4
Total: 8

Borderline: 0
These Dreams: 4
Let's Dance: 1
Total: 5

1999: 2
You Might Think: 5
Uptown Girl: 1
Total: 7

In the Air Tonight: 1
Shout: 2 (would have given it a 5 back in time)
I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues: 4
Total: 7

Dang, more memories from this list than III (I wasn't in to metal in the 80s) but not much I find appealing now.

If I liked Devil Inside more, I would have picked option 2 in a heartbeat since I am big fan of both Careless Whisper and Your Wildest Dreams.

I went with 3 because Borderline, These Dreams and Let's Dance are all in my top 7 songs from these 15.

I hated not being able to pick the option with Shout.  Whoever made this poll sucks. :P

Devil Inside sounded sounded so dark to 10 year old me, which was intriguing. Cool video too. Kick got a ton of airplay on my cassette deck.

Same here. I listened to that cassette more times than I can remember.  Devil Inside was always my least favorite song from it, though.

Was about to pick option 2 because I like both Careless Whisper and Your Wildest Dreams, but not so much The Devil Inside. But then I saw Option 5 and had to go with that. Both In the Air Tonight and Shout are great songs, if slightly overplayed. I Guess that's Why They Call it the Blues is a decent song as well.

Every other option had songs I strongly dislike. Dancing in the Dark, Borderline, You Might Think.

5.  Two songs I love and one that I can't say I dislike.  Each of the other options had a song that I pretty intensely dislike.  And #2 does nothing for me.

Four or five.  I love The Cars to an almost unreasonable degree, as well as Phil Collins.... actually, since I really don't DISLIKE any in five (but I can pass on 1999) then I go with FIVE.

This one's a little tougher, but not for good reasons.  I'll note that I didn't like most of these songs when they were released but (like a lot of 80s pop) have grown to like to some degree.

Category 1:  Billie Jean is ok for an MJ song.  Good melody and beat.  Every Breath is just ok.  Very overplayed and, IMO, overrated.  Can't stand anything Springsteen.

Category 2:  The reed players in my daughter's high school marching band play Careless Whisper as a joke.  'Nuff said.  Not sure I can distinguish the INXS song from a couple others (didn't they also have one called The Kick Inside?), but I've never heard anything by INXS that I liked.  Don't know the Moody Blues song.

Category 3:  Borderline is a relatively weak Madonna song.  These Dreams is one of my favorite Heart songs and the best song in this poll.  While I don't hate Let's Dance like I used to, neither do I love it.

Category 4:  The best thing I can say about 1999 is that it's better than most stuff that Prince did.  You Might Think isn't very good and gets marked down for the video that seemed to run on an endless loop on MTV.  Uptown Girl is cool, but not great.

Category 5:  In the Air Tonight is pretty good.  Shout is a great 80s pop song.  Second best song in this poll.  The Elton John song is ok.  Good melody.  Nothing great.

So this comes down to 3 and 5, and I think 5 gets the nod.  Might be a different result with a different Madonna song.

#5 easily for me.  All the others have a song I don't care for.

I dunno, it's ripe for ridicule, but that Careless Whisper is just a finely crafted, well-sung tune. I think if it wasn't from the "Wake Me Up, Before You Go-go" people, it'd have more respect.

Plus there's the fact that, even though it was on a Wham album, it technically wasn't a Wham song.
