Spiral Architect appreciation
« on: December 25, 2012, 07:20:43 PM »
After seeing this band mentioned in the "Albums you listen to that no one else knows" thread, I thought it appropriate to start a SA thread.

Just saw this on Facebook from Asgeir Mickelson:

"What else to do on December 25th than programming drums for a new Spiral Architect song...?"

I know it's too soon to be excited but :caffeine:

I think I need to give them another chance.

Last time I listened to them, another person here on the board posted a song, and I have to say, it was so complex that my head really hurt afterwards. It's a lot to take in

Considering their one, and only, album is hands-down my favorite album of all time (even over Opeth and DT whom have collectively occupied the spot of being my #1 band since 1999), I'm kinda bummed and beyond pessimistic about any chance of a new album based on the dates and seeming stringing along present in this thread.

Fuck, I really hope I'm wrong.

Yea that is one crazy album! Heard them way back and they sounded like nothing else back then and still do.

Sometimes it sounds like they're all jamming diffrent songs at the same time. Crazy! :lol

i see they gotz another update on gaybook today...Asgeir's searching for a drummer that can play the stuff needed for Oyvind's new song. he should narrow the search to his own vicinity.

super old bump.

I know this topic is 7 years old, but some may enjoy the Radical Research Podcast episode in A Skeptic's Universe.

It's pretty thorough and as always, the guys on the show have a lot of great insight.

I was reminded how great a track "Insect" was just hearing it again and their comments.

Thanks, that was a good listen.

Exceptional album. Very imaginative, full of character and truly killer musicianship-wise. If only it had a follow-up!

Our debut album "Eläimys" is a trip I can whole-heartedly recommend to anyone into Pain of Salvation, Opeth, The Mars Volta, Magma etc.

The song (from Black Sabbath's "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath") is one of my favorite songs of all time, ever.
