Even though it contains the weakest track in the poll (Is This Love), I still went with #5 on the strength of Back In Black and Mr TAC.

Group 4. It would be the GnR group but that Dokken song is audio torture.
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

2 was ruined by Dokken
3 was ruined by Ratt
4 was ruined by Bon Jovi.

Only 1 or 5 make the grade. I went with 1.

Holy crap that sounds almost exactly like Alone Again. Never heard of Rhett Forrester before. After doing a little bit of research it would seem the Dokken song came 4 years before the other. Seems Mr. Forrester found some inspiration.  :lol

Thanks for posting that, TAC.  I wasn't familiar with Rhett Forrester.  But after hearing that, I can now say that I'm glad I wasn't familiar with Rhett Forrester.

Also debated between 4 and 5.  The other ones have a better song and a worse song on each, but 4 and 5 are consistent in that I like all three songs a good amount but went with 4 in the vote to give some Jersey love, Runaway is my favorite BJ song.

Well, frankly that song is embarrassing. I remember buying that album and I was shocked when I heard that song.

Rhett Forrester was Riot’s second singer and is on their Restless Breed (1982) and Born In America (1983) albums. Both of which are very good. He has an awesome voice.

He was killed during a carjacking in Florida I believe in the 90’s.

This is tough.

Category 1:  Solid, but not great, JP song; good, but not great, Leppard song; crappy Crue song.
Category 2:  Good, but overrated, Metallica song; solid Scorps song; one of only 2-3 Dokken songs worth a damn.
Category 3:  Great QR song (best song in the poll) teamed up with crap and Ratt.
Category 4:  All three are solid, but nothing exceptional.
Category 5:  Another solid grouping, but nothing exceptional.

3 is out because the garbage GnR track and the mediocre Ratt song cancel out the QR song, and 1 is out because of the Crue track.  I guess if you told me I could only listen to one of the remaining groupings, I'd pick 2, so there it is.

That's a cool way of doing it.  Okay:

1.  Solid Def Lep and Crue songs.  JP song I couldn't care less about.
2.  Solid all around.
3.  Great QR song.  One of GnR's best.  And if you have to pick a Ratt song, that's one of the few that I would go with.  The solo alone makes it worthwhile.
4.  Solid Maiden song.  Decent Bon Jovi song, although there are lots better.  OK Van Halen song.
5.  All decent tracks.

Yes, but 5 has the lower standard deviation.

I liked them live as well.

I didn't at first. Saw them open for Judas Priest in '86 and Aerosmith in '87. I thought Don Dokken was a douche. His stage banter blew.

But On the Monsters Of Rock tour, I thought they were really good.

I also saw them on their first reunion club tour in '95, and holy shit did that show smoke!
