So honestly, I don't really like any of them but I chose 8V. The saturation of the images and the landscape are kind of cool I guess.
Train of Thought is decent but still just seems random.
Images and Awake seem amateurish and cluttered. I just looked into it and it was one of the artists first jobs if not *the* first.
I'm kind of perplexed SFAM gets so much love. Maybe if it was more apparent that the images were from the actual story, like having pictures of the characters in the booklet, I would think more highly of it.
Train of Thought. Followed by...
2. Octavarium
3. Awake
4. Scenes
5. Images
But to be honest I'm one of the few who loves the self-titled cover. That may be my overall favourite.
I LOVE the DT12 cover. In fact, when the name and cover were announced from that album I was kind of blown away. Kind of bold to have a very simple yet beautiful cover and then name the album after the band almost 30 years into your career.
I will say this though. I feel that everyone, including myself, has a little bias of the cover art toward the quality of the albums. For instance, I found the album to be kind of middle of the road and when I look at the cover now, I kind of feel let down. Honestly, if the album was a masterpiece, I may look at the simplicity of the cover and feel that it is the best.
On that same token, I mentioned this in the other thread but when ADTOE was announced as the title and then the cover art announcement, I was shocked. Horrible name, horrible cover. Yet now, I look at the cover and how different it was from all of the others and I've grown to love it. It certainly doesn't hurt that ADTOE is one of my 3 favorite DT albums. D/T is another of my favorite covers and albums but where my theory kind of falls apart is that SC is my 3rd favorite album and I don't care for the art at all.
