Best three-song run on Distance Over Time
« on: March 02, 2019, 07:54:05 PM »
Going back about 6 years to a series of threads that I, Kev, and GasparXR did based on three-song runs on the band's various studio (and other) albums, I figured I'd bring this one out for d/t and see what you all think is the best three-song run on the album! I can see a lot of votes going for Option 7, but I think there's a lot of strength in Option 1 being the three singles they released and all. I think anything with "Barstool Warrior" and "At Wit's End" will do well, though.

For now S2N - A Wit's End - Out Of Reach, anywhere where Room 137 is bad :p

Officially:
  • Room 137 - S2N - At Wit's End
However, my current playlist is Distance Over Time without Out Of Reach. So unofficially:
  • S2N - At Wit's End - Pale Blue Dot
Technically doesn't qualify, I know.

This is a pretty amazing (unofficial) four-song run too:
  • S2N - At Wit's End - Pale Blue Dot - Viper King

Same here. It's hard to pick because there are no duds on this album.
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

Going with At Wit's End - Out Of Reach - Pale Blue Dot.

PBD is my favorite one, and the other two are also pretty solid.

Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

At Wit's End - Out Of Reach - Pale Blue Dot easily. 2 of my 3 favourites from the album and a pretty nice ballad.

Second favourite would be a tougher choice, but it would be between Untethered Angel - Paralyzed - Fall Into The Light and Room 137 - S2N - At Wit's End.

Fall into the Light - Barstool Warrior - Room 137

Those are three of my four favorites, along with At Wit's End, so this was easy for me.

As of now, it would be Paralyzed - Fall Into The Light - Barstool Warrior, but I'm sure that will change eventually as I've only listened to the album a few times so far.

Room 137 - S2N - At Wit's End

Room 137 is the weakest of the three, although I still very much like it. The first three tracks of the album I usually skip, and Out of Reach is a bore. Easy choice!

Went with AWE-OoR-PBD

I feel there’s an excellent flow to these songs. AWE starts heavy, then gets melodic/soft at the end. OoR keeps the melodic/softness throughout. Then PBD starts soft and quiet before exploding into heaviness again.

Really? I guess the first 3 were the 3 singles so they have the most play, but they’re great songs. Fall into the light is still easily in my top 3 from that album. But the best 3 songs in a row I went with the majority.

I went with Room 137 - S2N - At Wit's End.  But, honestly, I could have picked probably just about any of these, except maybe the last one.  And nothing against Viper King either.  It's a fun song.  But it just doesn't reach the heights of the other songs on the album, and really feels like a "bonus" and not part of the album proper.

I have a really hard time picking between Room 137 - S2N - At Wit's End and At Wit's End  - Out Of Reach - Pale Blue Dot. The first three are also pretty solid.

Tough choice really.
