As a session player in the 80s he was kind of a music whore and he played on a lot of shit. But also on some really good records.

And now back to the roulette, I will not send Toto or Steve Lukather in the next round. But maybe Tears Of My Own Shame for the crybaby round.

Focusing on Olivia Newton-John in workout clothes is understandable but misses the point. Yeah, he did that solo, but also appeared, uncredited, on at least three Van Halen albums. He's played with all of Asia and half of King Crimson. He's played on Steely Dan records. Toto was, essentially, the backup band for all of Thriller, not just Beat It.

Electric, acoustic, rock, metal, jazz, funk, blues... I wasn't kidding, he can play ANYTHING.

Luke is guitar royalty, and I get Tim.

The man doesn't shred, hence he often sneaks under the not-guitarhead lstener's radar, but his command of the instrument (and its expressive potential) is simply total. He moves inside a genre not providing obvious outlets for a guitar hero, just like other unsung guitar masters like Brian Setzer or Johnny Marr.

Sometimes when I want to walk in Tim's shoes I'll go to my music collection, strap on horse blinders and then pick an album I can see right in front of me in that metal section of my CD's. Then I'll get yelled at by my wife because I am not paying attention to her.

I always joke that my tastes for beers are refined but I can't stand Starbucks. To each his own. Tim got me at the DT concert. It's all in good fun. I'm just hoping to catch him with something he'd never expect to like but does.

I don't rate Lukather at all. Never understood the hype or his status in the guitar world. IMO, he's not that good.

Everything I've heard from him from a guitar point of view has just been underwhelming and sloppy. I hate his tone too. I'm not saying other guitarists are wrong, I just clearly don't see what's so good about him. If anyone wants to post vids to try and change my view, I'll gladly check them out.

Yeah, that didn't change my opinion. The ending solo was all over the place, sloppy and really didn't fit IMO. Crap tone and his shredding is very stiff and not very fluent. I don't know, I guess I just don't see what others do.

Man, I never realized Work of Art basically rip Toto off directly with every song. Wow.

So the Light/Dark Round is officially underway.

Stadler sent me the half the songs, 6 in each round, as he has been doing.

Seemed two people used Wild Cards for the Light Round.

One set of two were fairly close. The other set of two...I eliminated the first one before I even listened to the second.

What I love about you guys is the diversity, because these two sets of songs could not be more different. I was literally laughing out loud.

Please don't anyone allude to sending Wild Cards.
