7. Kwyjibo...Down - Three Suns And One Star

"Much better than expected. Not sure how it's going to score though."

This song was a pleasant surprise. I honestly don't know the first thing about Down, but in my mind, I link them with the 90's-00's bands. Not sure if that's even fair. This song oozes Black Sabbath. There's a point at about the 2:52 mark where this mad Iommi riff comes in and totally changes the pace of the song. Very cool.

They are a 90s band in the sense that they were formed in the 90s, but their music is more doom and sabbath influenced metal with a lot of bluesy and southern rock influences. Their first three records are all good, I love the third one (Over The Under), where this track comes from the most. They also have two EPs which are mostly forgettable.

If it weren't for Phil Anselmo being such a tool, I would enjoy this band probably a lot more.

It's funny, because I get what TAC is saying about Yes.   I love them, but what I love about them is Chris Squire and Alan White; they are the heaviest of the sort of "vintage" prog bands; I think Squire always wanted to be in Zeppelin but knew where his strengths were.   I picked Heart of the Sunrise because it WAS so heavy; I would have sent South Side Of The Sky if there was no "restriction", but even then, the middle section is so... twee.   

I still maintain that the best music is that where genres clash, where there's tension, and that was Yes.   Heavy, heavy bass, with lyrics like "Dreamer, easy in the chair that really fits you!" (SOOOO not metal).
