My twitter account was closed because...wait for it...

When Charlie Watts passed away I re told that VERY FAMOUS STORY of him getting out of bed in the night - having a shower - shaving - putting on a suit - going to Mick jaggers hotel room

and punching him in the face.

I got an email from twitter saying my account was deleted because my tweet "Promoted violence and made twitter an unsafe place"..

 :rollin Had to laugh really.

The Caldor fire has entered the residential area of South lake Tahoe...and is moving at a pace of two blocks per minute.  :'(

This is where it's burning now, that's lake Tahoe in the north, about three miles away, where all the casinos are.

There's roughly over 16k homes in the evacuation area, including four very large casinos and a massive downtown area.

I'll admit... I think I have slight PTSD from the Thomas Fire down here in 2017, and indirectly from the Tubbs and Glass fires in Santa Rosa in the last few years (family lives up there)... Seeing what's going on in Tahoe (as well as what has happened with the Dixie Fire), really has me on edge.

We've yet to have a big one near me this year... But I know it's coming.
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Santa Rosa is in such a precarious place in concern to these fires, as is Placerville. I'm working on accepting this as a part of life in CA, but man, I've got so many good memories of the Tahoe area, and to see it going like this is just brutal.

I've had 35-40 nights in the hospital since then due to lingering issues in my legs from the impact, and I had a surgery last year (with complications that landed me back in the hospital) that will hopefully prevent any of those issues from returning. Fingers crossed.

Right before Covid, I had plans to move to Northern CA. Postponed because of it but seeing the fires from last year and this year has really put me off and that is no longer in my future plans  :-\

5th floor, but height wise it might have been closer to 4. The first floor of the building was/is partially below ground level.

I have always wondered about if someone does get nerve issues after falling from a certain height. I remember jumping off of heights and upon impact feeling it in the nerves in my feet. It would give me that same numb sensation but with a burning feeling when I would land on my feet from high up, it's a reason for my fear of heights.

Now I wonder if this possible "nerve damage" is what really causes the person to succumb to a really high fall, and if it does this by sending a shock to the heart which causes it to become overworked and just flat out stop beating, or if it completely shuts down the organs upon impact including the brain.

Glad you did survive and are still here to have these great discussions with. Falling from a 5 story building and surviving...Now that's metal...

And...Time does fly where you forget it's been longer than you first thought.  :lol

Naps that long usually fuck me up for falling asleep at night unless I am so rest-broken that I'm still dead after waking up.

Yeah, I very rarely take long daytime naps. Anything more than half an hour and I'm confused for a while when I woke up because the sensation of waking up and it's the same day as it was when I went to sleep is so foreign to me. Feels like a preview of what alzheimer's is going to be like :lol That said, I may try to sneak a half hour snooze in on my lunch break today because I didn't get much sleep last night.

The major roads by me flooded last night, but that was about it locally.  North Jersey and South Jersey seem to go the brunt of it.  South with a tornado and north with lots of flooding.  Driving into work today, there wasn't any flooded roads for me but lots of abandoned cars from being flooded last night.

Thanks for that; some parts of CT got between 6 and 7 inches of rain in the span of like 12 hours.  A CT State Trooper was hurt/killed (we're not sure how he is) when his cruiser was swept away by the Pomperaug River while responding to a call.  Sad days.

It's absolutely BEAUTIFUL here now, though.  75, breezy and sunny.  It's hopefully going to be like this through the weekend.

I power nap quite regularly - 20-30 mins while I brew an afternoon coffee does wonders.  Being on vaca at the moment, I felt the need to go with a full 2pm-4pm schnooze.  'twas glorious.  And I was still asleep by 11.

All the stories and scenes I see from PA/NJ/NY/CT on the news and social media are crazy.  I knew this storm was going to be bad, but really did not know it would be this wild.  I feel pretty fortunate to come away unscathed.
