I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

fuck... the pinky aint doin any better like I expected.  Still bruised from top to bottom and can't grab anything with that is heavy enough to require a full grip.  Guess I should take it easy for tonight's concert and probably should have put it in a splint like my doctor friend told me, but instead I used it to play video games all week.  YOLO

I used to always fuck up my middle finger from bowling, never bruised it like this though. It's really fine but  kind of surprised after some good improvement to not see any the last 2 days. Hopefully I wont need to push people with that hand tonight, small venue and sold out but i have a VIP ticket that hopefully gives me a seat or some space.  They changed venues which is why I'm not sure anymore what VIP means.

Morning peeps.

So one thing we do at my account is post a guard at one of the condo buildings on our site when someone is moving in / out. This is because they are paranoid about leaving the doors open while the move is happening. The shifts are 4 hour blocks, and they schedule them anywhere from a month to 3 days in advanced. I am just expected to have someone there.

Fucking Friday I get an email just shy of 2 hours before a move, telling me that they rescheduled for the next morning, canceling the shift and requesting I reschedule for Saturday. Problem is, I already have another one scheduled for Saturday and the guy who was going to work it on Friday is already working his normal shift on Saturday. So I have to... improvise. It all worked out.

Here's what gets me. I received an email at about 4:00 PM on Friday telling me they needed someone posted on Monday for another move. Didn't give me a time. I didn't see the email until 8:00 PM that evening, because, and they know this, I am out at 3:30 and I don't regularly check my email when I am not working. I responded to the email asking for the time. Never got a response. Even now, on Monday morning.

Actually the truck just arrived. Oh well.

Sorry for the Monday morning rant :lol

OH and in other news today is Payday. And not just Payday but the first in a while where I can actually breath. Going to put money into getting the water pump fixed in the car I bought and finally have my own decently running vehicle.

Feeling a bit hungover today, I definitely wish I didn't make that last really drunk $100 bet on red last night  :censored followed by eating a big breakfast at 4am as my friends back home were making breakfast before heading to work

I was really hoping to find a deal on Aerosmith tickets the day of the show, they don't have them at the discount booths though.  It's not close to selling out, but it's damn expensive for a ticket.  Cheapest is actually $140 for a side of the stage GA ticket, I may end up getting that.

That's one thing that turns me off to the idea of a residency type thing like that. IMO, the tickets should be cheaper, seeing as they are playing a few dozen shows in the same place. Yes, it's Vegas, but still. I guess it's the Same Old Song And Dance for the band. They don't care :lol

Well, I saw their first show was the other night and they didn't play 4 songs on their setlist according to setlist.fm, 4 good songs too.  I'd be livid if they did a shorter set tonight after paying big bucks.  I just hope that was first show issues and not a bigger sign of them cutting back, that would really suck.

I'm always leery of those casino shows; they are structured differently.   For example the "free" shows at the Wolf's Den at Mohegan Sun are such that casino pays out for 90 minutes of show time, and they're not interested in 4-hour Bruce Springsteen extravanganzas, they want people back in the casino making drunk $100 bets on red (just bustin' Cram, been there done that).  So you get shorter sets, more "hits" sets.   If i have no choice I go to the casino (as I will for UFO in the fall) but if there's another show nearby I will invariably go to that one first.  Slash was a great example; I didn't compare sets, but I had front row at a GA show in Huntington, LI, or I could have been at a table in the back at Mohegan IF I was lucky.

EDIT:  Slash played 18 songs at Mohegan and the next show (three nights later) he did 21 in Huntington at the Paramount.

The arena shows aren't always like that, but some are.   It depends on the act and their clout.  But I'm pretty sure the "residency" things are just that: play your 90 - 100 minutes and let's get people gambling/drinking/eating again, pronto.

Doesn't seem to be the case for Def Leppard, they put on longer and more diverse / deep cut performances at their residency they just finished here.

Either way, I walked all the way to the venue box office, turns out they have just slightly cheaper seats available, but they are shit side back seats.  But livenation has the on stage GA tickets that are still cheaper than those cheapest seats but the box office doesn't sell them, only live nation.  So I just got one of those, so it seems I will be on stage with Aerosmith tonight.  A big birthday present to myself.

Also, to compare what you say about Slash, it seems Aerosmith is the same.  They played a longer set in NJ recently than they did on their first night here.

While chilling on the side stage before Aerosmith came on, I was chatting with security and he said, in about 10-15 minutes you'll see all of Steven's ladies come in.... and yup, all these strippers came into the GA side stage, made the night sooooo much fun  :metal :metal

That show was something else man, never experienced anything like that.  Unless you want to pay 500+ for good seats, that side stage GA was real sweet all things considered.  My day in Death Valley National Park is over, got to my airbnb in the middle of nowhere Nevada, just over the border from CA.  I'm wiped, my phone is dead but my laptop is good.  I'll go write my Aerosmith review while my phone charges and I watch this beautiful sunset over these mountains.

I freaking hate people. Just had a repo truck driver come within inches of running over my foot as he tried to roll into my work. Dude starts cussing me out and arguing when I tell him to basically go piss off.

"I legally have the right to come in here".

No... no you don't. I cannot interfere with the repossession of a vehicle if it is out in the open, but you cannot drive through a private gate to do so. That's Trespassing. I'm not as stupid as I look, and it is literally my job to know the laws pertaining to trespassing and what not.

Dude is like "well YOU specifically have let me take cars before!"

Which is true. Kinda. There are sections of the property that are public access, both pedestrian and vehicle access. I cannot stop people from accessing these places. If I see a Repo in progress in one of these places, I take note of it, snap a photo, and standby in case I need to call the cops for a disturbance (owner comes out and threatens the guy, etc).

Hell, technically if the guy would have parked and walked into the part of the property he was trying to access, which is open to pedestrian traffic, and happened to find the vehicle, have the key, and drive it off the island, I can't stop him. That's perfectly legal.

I just skimmed through a video you posted from the side stage area. Pretty cool view actually. Must have been a pretty unique experience!

I'm not sure I "needed" 30 days off, but yes, I needed a getaway and I got quite a few and soooo many crazy stories and memories.  Hoping to make one more tonight, we will see, I'm starting to feel really really tired, but I booked a club crawl tonight, starts in 40 minutes at a bar in my hotel lobby and ends at the Encore beach club at 4am  :lol (you can just leave at any time), we'll see how this shit show goes.

Damn, this data transfer from my phones (personal and work since my personal battery died and used my work to take pics in death valley) is taking forever.  I must have over 100G of data between pictures and videos.  I'm looking to get my aerosmith video up today, then I want to work on Death Valley video, then maybe I go back and finish my Aruba video before tackling a full Vegas video.  I just have SOOO much random stupid shit to go through  :lol
