Real tough day today. My brother called me at 12:30pm. Dad was admitted to the ICU last night. He was unresponsive and oxygen levels down to 40%  They intubated him.

For him to live they sedated him and are treating the pneumonia that he can't shake. They would have to give him a tracheostomy so he doesn't aspirate. But he will have to live with it and live in a nursing home.

What a conversation he will have when he clears up.

Along those lines, as some you know, my mom passed away last February.  Then, my aunt (who was married to my mom's younger brother) passed away 17 days ago, and then my uncle (my mom's oldest brother and my godfather) passed away this morning.  What a terrible last 12 months this has been.

No.  I never knew either of my grandfathers (both were gone before I was born).  My paternal grandmother passed away in 1986 when I was 13, and my maternal grandmother passed away 10 years ago at the age of 103. 

My mom's parents had five kids, and there were 20 grandkids from the five marriages. I was the 17th of 20, and one of three my parents had.

Uncle Dan (passed away today) and Aunt Juanita
Uncle Tom (passed away in 2015) and Aunt Margie (passed away in 1988)
Uncle Jack and Aunt Dora (passed away 17 days ago)
Uncle Joe (passed away in 2008) and Aunt Kathleen (passed away in 2006)
Dad and Mom (passed away last February)

It seems surreal to think that only three of those 10 are now living (Dad, Aunt Juanita and Uncle Jack). I feel numb, to be honest.

Wow. I asked about your grandparents because it'd be awful to have them experience this.

My wife's brother died a couple of years ago, and it is still awful, especially for my MiL. Heck, my wife even teared up tonight talking about it.

Yeah, it never gets better, getting over a loss like that.  You get used to dealing with it, but it leaves a hole that can never be filled again.  That is what I have learned in the last 10 1/2 months.  Not trying to sound like a cliche, but we all just do our best to carry on.

Yeah; I only ever saw them in Georgia or in North Carolina.  There might be one in southwest Florida.  Pizza in the southeast generally blows, but MM isn't bad at all.
