Only one visitor a day. So I couldn't switch out with my brother. Plus him not having a room with us not there pissed me off. I made a scene. My dad has MS and can't process what people are saying sometimes.

But what is the reasoning for that?

My dad just had heart surgery and was overwhelmed with all the visits, test, and information. My mom has handled everything and been there as much as possible, and of course if she couldn't me and my sister would. I can't imagine someone going through surgery or a hospital stay without support.

2 hospitals at max capacity and hospitals look at covid differently as others do I'd assume.

That seems to be SOP for hospitals now, unless the situation is terminal. Once it became clear earlier this year that my mom had hours left, there was no cap on how many visitors she could have.

We had a couple "events" with my dad when he broke his leg. One night my brother and I went out and had a couple beers and decided that "nice guys finish last" and we sort of coordinated who would be the "good cop" and who would be the "bad cop". Since he IS a cop, he was the "bad cop" and while we didn't play that card very often, sometimes it had to be done. I think our healthcare system is a fair amount better than a lot of people claim it is - I don't know what they expect; "death" is so far undefeated out of several billion attempts - but I have no problems sleeping at night knowing that at times my dad's care was a matter of "squeaky wheel gets the grease".

Sorry to hear that Joe. Not sure if it would work where your Dad is, but last year my SO's grandma was in the hospital and they had the same policy of only 1 visitor per day. The way they got around it was by saying they were going to the second floor cafeteria, and just continued to the room.

Sometimes you just got to let it out. I'm sure it wasn't your proudest moment, but don't beat yourself up too much, you are going through a lot with your father.

They won't pay a fine, be arrested, go to jail, or accept "recovery program services." Was hoping for discussion about if this would be a problem if carts were properly stored in the corrals. You disappointed me dtf.org.

Man. My dad was rushed to the ICU last night. At first they were worried about a stroke. They think he didn't have one but he's not swallowing. He's not doing well.

I'm heartbroken. He has a hard time speaking a full sentence and is so weak.
