I think that lines up pretty well with my expectations. I'm a little surprised that Out of Reach is doing so poorly and I'd personally put AWE ahead of S2N, but those two may yet sort themselves out going forward.

Did you expect these results? Viper King, the oddball bonus track, isn't last, S2N is actually leading with a perfect score, and Fall Into the Light is ahead of the praised Barstool Warrior and the epic closing track.

I'm surprised there are 5 songs with 3 or fewer losses, but it's all about the match ups.  I'd be interested to see which songs S2N has defeated.

Yeah...6 songs from TA, one of the worst songs from one of DT's worst albums, a b-side non-album track.  Those were gimmes.  The wins over OTBOA, TKH, LFAGA, Outcry and Untethered Angel were legit.

Given that not every song will get a chance against every other song and given that there is a large number of cupcakes (the TA songs and the non-album tracks -- only one of which I think is currently in the top 64), strength of schedule really ought to be a thing.

You can just do a page search within this thread.  It's only four pages at this point.

I consider Repentance the single worst song DT has recorded, so it's really easy for me when it comes up to vote for the other song.  That Repentance has the same number of wins (3 - False Awakening Suite, A Better Life and Enigma Machine) as Only a Matter of Time is one of the greatest mysteries of the modern world.

As I said before, some votes are just to "punish" a song. Someone doesn't like a song, like AT ALL, and so "literally anything else" becomes a better option.

If I remember correctly someone voted for The Answer against A Change of Seasons. Is it possible that nothing in the 23 minutes of ACoS is worth more than the barely two minutes of The Answer? surely, but as I said these kind of votes are done on principle. "I don't like this song at all - literally any other song will do".

Yay, You Not me and The Answer get finally a win!

It would be curious to see how the benchkmark for going into the top 64 fluctuates from week to week, and which songs are in or out with each passing week. Right now This Dying Soul is the first of the eliminated songs, and the ones which come immediately after are all songs I'd like to go on.

Also, concentrating on something that nobody cares for, but it's fun to find overlooked statistics: the race between the FII leftovers is as follows:

Raise the Knife has 4 wins
Speak to me has 3 wins
Cover my Eyes, The Way it Used to Be and Where Are You Now are stuck at the very bottom with 0 wins.

I agree with this, RtK and StM are the best of the leftovers, let's see if the other three will eventually get a win sometime, but I assume that those two songs in the "lead" won't be caught anymore  by the other three.

RTK defeated Through My Words, Prophets of War, Enigma Machine and Where Are You Now? (one other FII reject a transitional piece from SFAM and two very poorly regarded songs)

STM could only manage wins against another FII reject (The Way It Used to Be) and two songs from TA (Losing Faythe and Hymn of 1000 Voices).

If anyone cares, I would vote to exclude some of these bottom feeders from future versions of this leauge so that every song can match up against every other song.

I'm surprised at Hell's Kitchen being almost at the top - yeah, it's good but the first half of the song was a Burning My Soul leftover, and the best part of it was written just to tie in to Lines in the Sand. Sure, intentions don't matter if the ending result is good, but I thought the other three qualified instrumentals would all fare better.

There's also a big divide between the for-now qualified songs and the for-now eliminated songs - the instrumentals which are liked are doing VERY good, the other ones are all way, way below the qualification point and all very unlikely to ever catch up with the first 64.

Week 18 standings have only the D batch of matches.

First loss for The Mirror, alas, it's still at the top obviously but now it slides back behind the other songs with just one loss (but no draws).

Speaking of sliding back, I remember when New Millennium was at the very top - now it's almost there on the brink of being eliminated.

Which brings me to this.... how many songs do you all think are all realistically in the run for qualifications? I mean, math probably says that even You Not Me has still a chance, but being realistic - how many songs of the immediate group or groups after the 64th position could make it, at expense of those immediately above?

Outcry, Wither and This is the Life were both one victory away from entering the top 64, and the group following after (the Beneath the Surface one) is two victories behind, that doesn't seem impossible. And also the group of Behind the Veil is in the same boat, being bagged only by a draw. So I say that the first 83 songs COULD have a chance somehow, not all of them of course.

Looking at the group of 84-97 I already start to see songs that, while being good, are not universal fan favorites, and I can't imagine them doing that much better in future matches.

So I'd say that unless you're not aboard the 7 victories and 1 draw train, from down there you're screwed. Never say never of course but I don't see any of those songs from 84 onward being able to outperform 20 songs above them.

I’m pleasantly surprised by how well Panic Attack is doing. With only two losses and being at the same place in the standings as Take the Time and Surrounded, two songs from the band’s most universally loved album, it’s success in the league thus far is making me very happy.
