Matt Lebofsky/Bodies Floating Ashore

Re-listening to this guy's work, I think it warrants some boosting. Matt Lebofsky, who's played keyboards and guitars (and drums in studio!) in Secret Chiefs 3, bass in miRthkon and keyboards in MoeTar (along with session work for plenty of other outfits), records pretty much everything for stuff released under his name and under the "Bodies Floating Ashore" moniker (with occasional engineering assistance from Dan Rathbun from Sleepytime Gorilla Museum and Free Salamander Exhibit).

If you know any of the names above, you know this guy's "got it". If not, please allow me to show you some of his hard-to-categorize-but-easy-to-enjoy music. (I started trying to call it something like "folk prog", but to hell with genres  :lol )

I think, particularly with "Bodies Floating Ashore", he hits some spots that bring to mind TPE/Remedy Lane-era Pain of Salvation, with very clever lyrics, poignant melodies and lush arrangements. It kind of pains me to see this stuff go unnoticed, hence this post!

His stuff under the Bodies Floating Ashore is all on bandcamp here: https://bodiesfloatingashore.bandcamp.com/ and his solo stuff is here https://mattlebofsky.bandcamp.com/

If y'all want a taste, here's a few recommended cuts, two from Matt's solo stuff and two from Bodies Floating Ashore (which is also solo Matt... get the picture?):

Well https://bodiesfloatingashore.bandcamp.com/track/well (this is the one that most reminds me of Pain of Salvation, but it's also got a taste of Cardiacs for those of you who worship at the altar of Tim Smith like I do)

29 https://bodiesfloatingashore.bandcamp.com/track/29 (this one pairs up an upbeat instrumental with less-than-cheery lyrics, usually a great combination. Gets a reprise at the end of the album in "39")

Boring Origin Story https://mattlebofsky.bandcamp.com/track/boring-origin-story (An engaging tune that challenges the "Boring" descriptor in the title)

Fading Abilities https://mattlebofsky.bandcamp.com/track/fading-abilities (Ready for feelings of depression but with a groovy beat to it?)
