That's super cool!

They are coming to Asheville.  I was hoping for something closer to the Raleigh/Durham area, because frankly I'm getting too old to drive 4 hours to see one band, but we'll see.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

I know it's the thing to do.....but jeez.....freaking Ticket Master.

Just bought our kids tickets for a Christmas gift (and us) tickets to the show they're playing in St. Louis next September....$105.00 a ticket which, whatever.....that's fine. But then there's another $100 in 'service fees'.....$20 a ticket. It's just ridiculous.

Nice little $629.00 spent with a few clicks on a mouse....but it's all about the memories!!!!!!

For King Gizzard? Fuck, that's depressing. I was pleasantly surprised that tickets I bought the see them in May only cost £42 each (including all fees).

The venue that's called 'The Factory' is a pretty cool spot but it's in a pretty upscale suburb of St. Louis.....and the cheapest ticket using their website is $139 each for General Admission. Ticketmaster's GA started at $105.....so, I'm not sure how/why they're so high but there's no way we can't go being that it's 25 minutes from our house. The good news is that I talked my mom into buying the three tickets for the boys as a Christmas present from her....so, just recouped $380 of that  :tup

Two weeks until I get to see the boys, for the second time.

Guess I better do an extensive, full discography play through :corn

Anyone else seeing them on the European tour?

I've just got a load of birthday money, and honestly I might go see them at Wolverhampton the night before, and do two nights back to back.

Yeah I’m going to the Amsterdam show, can’t wait. Their set in Belgium last night was insane, if Amsterdam gets a set like that.. it’ll be my third time (Lowlands, 013 Tilburg and now AFAS).

I have my fingers crossed for Dragon and Magma.

One week to go. I'm going to attempt a full discography playthrough, including live albums, bootlegs and demo compilations. I think that's over 50 hours of listening, so let's go!

Dude, I've just seen the setlist for tonight. Holy shit, that is a good set! Only song I'd really want to change is Pleura. Closing with the Han-tyumi and the Murder of the Universe Suite as well  :metal

Twosuitluke, you being a Gizzhead of course you have just a pretty accurate idea by looking at the setlist - this was incredible.

I’m not the biggest MOTU fan but this worked so amazingly well to end the concert. My friends and I were transported to another world. They sometimes jam so hard I’m sure everyone in the room forgets which song they’re playing until they eventually reprise the ‘hook’ of the song after a 20 minute long. No scrap that; time loses all meaning with this band. Absolutely phenomenal performance tonight.

This band keeps on giving.. there’s a debate on facebook wether or not they’re a jam band. If they aren’t, I don’t know what is.

Dude, I'm so happy for you, and hope for a similar experience next week. I would love the see the final Murder of the Universe Suite, so I'll have my fingers crossed.

How was the new song?

I'm just looking forward to an immersive experience next week, and for time to lose all meaning, like you said.

The new song was called Daily Blues and it was a stomper. It tied in with the middle part of the concert which was heavy on boogie vibes. The new song had extensive use of harmony vocals and overall felt very 'classic rock'. It was a lot to take in at first listen but everyone seemed to agree the song was awesome. I feel the new songs feel most like Fishing for Fishies.

Have a blast next week twosuitluke  :metal

Next I'm going to see Tool coming Monday! Life is good at the moment.

Today is King Gizzard day, seeing them live in about 13 hours!

Still haven't finished my 60.5 hour discography playlist, but if I listen solidly today I should do. Just got PetroDragonic, Demos Vol. 5 & 6, Live in Chicago '23 and The Silver Cord (Extended Mix) to go.

Have fun dude! Do you have certain songs you're hoping to get tonight?

Well the set I saw last year consisted of...

Gaia
Gila Monster
Robot Stop
Hot Water
Big Fig Wasp
Gamma Knife
Hypertension
The Garden Goblin
Work This Time
Shanghai
The Grim Reaper
Iron Lung
Magma
The Dripping Tap

Honestly, this was a damn epic set. I'd be happy to hear all new songs tonight, with the exception of hearing The Dripping Tap again, as it is my favourite song.

I guess what I'd love to hear is...

I'm in Your Mind Fuzz Suite
Magenta Mountain (with heavy outro)
Slow Jam 1
Am I In Heaven
Lava
Sense (Extended jam)
The Han-tyumi and the Murder of the Universe Suite
Crumbling Castle/The Fourth Colour
Rattlesnake (my buddies aren't huge, huge fans, but they love this song)
Head On/Pill
Dragon

Saying that though, I trust this band to play pretty much anything and I'll have a blast. Not to mention that I have faith in them to pull out some extended jam on something I'm lukewarm on, and convert me to avid fan.

Just looking forward to shaking my ass!

To be honest, I was a little disappointed with the set last night, which breaks my heart to say. Here's the set...

The Silver Cord
Extinction
Gondii
Supercell
Organ Farmer
Dragon
Flamethrower
Ice V
Hypertension
Evil Death Roll
Work This Time
Pleura
Billabong Valley

They started the set with 'The Table', playing songs from their latest record. I don't mind The Silver Cord, but in general it's not my type of music, and for me personally (although it translates better live) it doesn't get my blood pumping. The first two songs probably lasted over 20 minutes, and even though it was great to see the band (especially Stu) vibing, I was kinda waiting for them to get to the meat of the set.

Gondii was played more in the style of The Silver Cord, and was actually pretty cool. From here they went straight into the metal portion of the set. It got the crowd moving, and Dragon/Flamethrower was particularly awesome to see. I always find it weird that even though metal is mainly what I listen to, I'm not overly fussed on Gizz metal songs.

The absolute highlights for me was Ice V into Hypertension. These songs are just the sort of Gizz I like to experience live. They are funky and just get me moving. Hypertension especially, I felt my body taken over by the urge to just move. These two songs were a good half an hour of just what I wanted.

Next up was Evil Death Roll, which was really cool. I was hoping they'd go into something else from Nonagon Infinity, or the I'm In Your Mind Fuzz suite, but alas. I quite like Work This Time, and way more Live, compared to the studio version.

Last was the two microtonal songs. When I saw the 'flying microtonal banana' come out I was hoping for a Rattlesnake close. I felt ending on Pleura and Billabong Valley was a bit of an anticlimax, but I am kinda lukewarm on their microtonal stuff.

All in all, I still had a blast, and they played solidly for 2 hours, so I can't complain. The set could've been a little more suited to my tastes, but that's the beauty of a Gizz gig I guess.
