It is really great to hear them back to form after a couple of disappointing albums. I really hope The Dripping Tap is a stepping stone to more of that jam style because it's their strongest song in quite some time for me. While I do like most of their albums I've always felt a sense of them having the potential to be something better than they are, when you get these songs like The Dripping Tap or Head On/Pill it actually feels like them ascending to a higher plane.
Just popping in to say Luke, you were right.
So happy to see this thread! My 14 year old son came to me a couple weeks ago and said 'Dad, I found this cool band you should check out' and this is who it was. I've been listening periodically to the plethera of albums that they have and they're great! But the coolest thing is that it's my son who turned me on to them...not me him like I've done with DT/Haken etc etc. Really fun band with neat songs....just a cool listen
I can't wait to be able to start taking him to gigs/festivals.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.
The jam on the new song > the jam on The Dripping Tap
Pretty confident in saying the new album (name too fucking long for me to bother typing) is their best one since Infest The Rats Nest.

Oh hey, Laminated Denim is actually a proper rock album. I was expecting it to be another ambient / experimental electronic thing like Made In Timeland.Damn, I might have to get this one too.

Definitely my favorite of the three October albums. Laminated Denim is one of the most boring records I’ve heard from anyone. I really don’t get what people are enjoying about this one. Both songs go absolutely nowhere and take their sweet time doing it.Changes is just ok. It remind me of Sketches but a bit more accessible to people who don’t like Jazz. Or if they did a whole album of songs like Beginner’s Luck. Not much to say about it. It doesn’t stand out to me much, but it’s enjoyable.
Dude, I pretty much agree with everything you've said here (except on K.G. and L.W., I can't seem to click with those records personally). I was lucky enough to get tickets to see them in March, and I've ever managed to convince three of my friends to join me!I truly believe we are witnessing something special with this band at the moment, they are the most exciting band at the moment, on every front. I love the whole bootleg culture, and how fans are crafting all their own merchandise. The vinyl output is great and they seem to interact with their fans in such a special way.
