Bringing Back The Double Song Name Game (After Many Years)
« on: February 13, 2019, 07:02:35 AM »
After 7 years or so (?), and with many new song names in the pool...I'm bringing back the double song name game!!!

...Okay, I'm sure nobody even remembers. If you don't remember or never played, here is how it works:

I'll start by describing a situation that creatively combines parts of the names of 2 Dream Theater songs, and you have to guess them. You can use the full song name, or just a part of it.

Here is an example:

Q: I fell through the rooftop, right into the hideout of my foes.

Answer: Fall Into The Presence Of Enemies (Fall Into the Light / In the Presence of Enemies)

I can't remember if I made it a free-for-all last time, or if only the winner could post the next one. But let's just make it a free-for-all so people can post whenever one comes to mind.

Okay so here is my first batch:

1. I am starting to figure out how to get along with my female roommate.
2. The hotel has been empty for 72 hours.
3. The drunk knight at the pub tripped and fell on top of me.

Good luck!

Props to The Letter M's DT song name combination thread from 2010!

You mean the thread I started in 2010?

Very nice to see the idea pop up again, as you're right, we've had DT12, TA and now d/t revealed/released since then.

EDIT: The threads are a bit different, since this one is a word association game. But your song mashup thread definitely deserves props, as that is a part of this.

I've edited my OP to give deserved props!

I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

1 is Learning To..... beats me

You both got the first half right. This one is actually probably unfair, because it relies on some word play. So I'll just reveal it: Learning To Live Wither (as in "with her")

3. Barstool Warrior {Blank}

Yep, Barstool Warrior is the second half

3. Beneath the Barstool Warrior?

The one I was thinking of was “Under A Barstool Warrior” but yours is even better, so that’s a winner

2. I resisted at first, but the offer for a ride on the hot air balloon was just too good.

Is the first one Learning To Live Forever? Or maybe Just Let Me Live Forever?

The second one is killing me!! I believe AFTR is part of it but I’m stumped on the rest. Not giving up though. These are good ones

This is the longest shot, but is there any way the second one is:

Along for The Hovering Ride?

Spot on for the first! Learning To Live Forever!

Concerning the second riddle, you're half correct, and where you are not you're off by just one song

Awesome!

The second one has me stumped, but I’m going to keep trying.

A couple more in the meantime:

1. I set my dad on fire!
2. I’m many miles from my humble abode
3. I saw my fate in the reflection (hard one)

It's a long shot, but is 3 Breaking the Mirror? (Breaking All Illusions / The Mirror)

Also, fantastic idea for a game! I can't remember being around for the first incarnation of this.

Glad you like it! And good guess, but the first part isn't correct.

This one is a bit hard, so here is a hint for it: Think a type of cookie

Ah, there we go. I spent more time than I wish to reveal on that one. My mind just wasn’t linking the surrender part

I feel compelled to provide a step-up in difficulty, then. You'll probably need google for this.

From 1920, the astronomic community was divided between Shapley's and Curtis' arguments on the size of the Milky Way and the Earth's position within it. Finally, in 1924 Edwin Hubble, building on the seminal work by Henrietta Leavitt, proved that there are other galaxies beyond our own.

Hint: The two songs are from albums which don't have the same line-up, and neither is the current.
