Tool: Aenima or Lateralus?

Which Tool album do you prefer?

Undertow and Ænima are my favourite Tool albums and pretty much equally good in my books.

Aenima is good, but it's not a favorite of mine. Lateralus is.

But I like all of their albums.....Lateralus is just Phenomenally better than any of their other ones.

As with all Tool albums, for me It comes down to what mood I am in. I've never been able to pick a favorite. I love them all.


Aenima - Raw and pissed. Although not as raw as the two that proceeded it. A much more fleshed out and ambitious album. As a kid I thought the transitions were cool, but as adult I skip them. This album has probably my favorite Tool song, which is the Title track. 

Lateralus- Much more introspective, much more subdued and I've heard it referred to as "heavy pink floyd" and I can dig that for sure. Excellent album overall. Disposition and reflection are two of my favorite Tool songs.

Aenima is great but Lateralus is one of the most important albums in my life, so that one gets the vote.

As for 10,000 Days, it has 2 of my favourite Tool songs (Right In Two and Rosetta Stoned) but on the whole it's on a slightly lower tier to Aenima and Lateralus for me.

Lateralus and Aenima are my all time favorite albums. But if I had to chose one, I would say Lateralus just by the slightest of margins. Otherwise I always say these 2 albums are tied for first all time. And yes Tool is my favorite band.
