Haken Survivor Main Thread

In a quite surprising turn of events, considering previous round results, The Endless Knot is eliminated and goes to the Consolation rounds. This Final round for Affinity bears no impact on the Finals (both songs are in regardless), but are merely for completion's sake.

After this round finishes, I will update the Survivor's Main Thread, but I will take a break from the Survivor for the weekend and Christmas and start this thing again with Vector on Thursday the 27th. Have a great time!

My vote goes to the omnipresent endless knot.

The Architect. I don't think it's that great. For the album epic, it's actually a bit underwhelming.

1985, on the other hand, is my favorite on the album, along with Initiate and Earthrise.

Especially if you point it out in such a blunt way like this, yes. Statements like the one DoC made are obviously opinions, and so is mine. Neither of us is saying that the other is right or wrong or that our own opinions are the only correct ones. FFS, I even said I do enjoy the Architect. For what it’s worth, I consider it to be a top 3 song on this album. I just don’t agree with it being on ‘a different level’.

 A survivor is not meant to reflect a ‘correct’ ranking of a band’s songs, but an average based on all the participants’ opinions. Of course everybody has different horses in this race, but the end goal isn’t to create some all-encompassing ranking. It’s to have fun and to generate discussion about a band’s songs. Don’t like that? Stay away from Survivors altogether, because statements like this (and it isn’t the first time I’m seeing this from you) clearly indicate that these are not your thing. And that’s fine.

I took absolutely no offense with your reply to my opinion. I understand that my opinions can be extreme and that not everyone feels that way.  Haken has many fantastic songs and losing to 1985 at this juncture would not be a sorry result at all. Now if it somehow lost to .exe I would flip out.

The thing is, part of me really wants survivors to be "my thing". I enjoy the idea of a tournament determining a forum champion among a band's songs. I should probably just vote and not read the comments.

As much as I say I like Haken I only really like Aquarius and The Mountain and the rest of their stuff is just "okay" (restoration is probably the closest they have to a "bad" release but it's still fine)

I find it too hard to get enthused about this album especially with how much of a step down from their previous it is to me
