Yeah, it's closer to "Buddy's Thing".  :)

I dunno, A Song Across Wires was alright but Tomahawk was the only real standout from it (still a banger), and I had to turn These Hopeful Machines off after like three songs. :lol

I haven't actually heard it yet, I was just finding an appropriate alternate explanation of the abbreviation.  :p
I'm on my first listen now and it's definitely from his more delicate and ambient side than the poppy/trancey/dubstep side that Buddy has heard.

Sounding really lovely so far. Great production and sound design as always.

Ageless Summoning - Corrupting the Entempled Plane

Lots of Tucker era Morbid Angel sludgy influence, and that's my favorite era of that band.  Really digging this album after a couple of listens.

There's like, a new album by Blur today, but that's all that's on my list.

Impressive first first listen for me; strong Insomnium vibe. Same energy and catchy melodies. I hope further listens will impress me as well. Great cover art too.

Checked this out yesterday, I was about to mention it in the ...Listening thread. Good stuff, I enjoyed it. A little more traditionally "melodic death metal" than Insomnium but, yes, it has those melancholic vibes for sure. Love the guitar work on it!

I plan on checking out the new Aetherian album.

The vocals were just over the line too harsh for me.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Damn that is stunning artwork IMO this genre has become the go-to for killer artwork. Unfortunately however I can't get much out of the constant growling.  I like it enhancing or being subbed for cleans more often such as personal fave Paradise Lost.  But otherwise the music is spectacular the cover art beautiful so bit annoyed I couldn't really get more out of it tbh.

Well I was looking forward to the new Closure in Moscow today but looks like it’s been delayed, AGAIN, this time until October.

So I’ve just got the new Mutoid Man today now. Anything else?

Came here to say new Sevendust was out today, then saw a new thread was made. I agree, it's just ok.

Sevendust - Truth Killer

Also:

Arch Echo - Final Pitch

is out today too. I've seen this band with Dream Theater and Haken. Great band! Also - at Haken, I happened to stand next to the lead guitarist's mom/dad and probably extended family. That was cool.

it's a great way to showcase the drum sound by introducing the album with that awesome drumming and sound.

I saw this this morning and gave it a little listen. I made it into the third song (which had a wicked tone BTW. I's not really for me. It wasn't bad at all, actually, just not what I'm into.

Totally fair they are not quite what you're into, Tim.

I had enjoyed their first album, then slept on War Moans (their second)...which I recently checked out, before this new one was released.

I still have to determine how much I like them, but there's something about their sound and songs that tickles me, in a similar way (although in a different context) as, say, Biffy Clyro...i.e. catchy tunes but with the right amount of twists and turns, not just weird for the sake of being weird, and with interesting detours from the template they (seemingly) have set up.

Luke: Absolutely YES to the Unborn riff!

Also, speaking of War Moans - Bandages is such a good closer (with Chelsea Wolfe on backing vocals!)

Huh, somehow I don't think I knew about this one, but it makes sense, after the '16 Converge show at Roadburn.  A lot of Brodsky's stuff isn't really in my wheelhouse, but this is kind of interesting, and she is on at least "Wreck and Survive" as well, with a briefly more prominent role.

One of my favourite bands Kyros just put out a new single last Friday that I've really been enjoying. I'd describe their sound as being along the lines of 80s-era Rush and Genesis with some more contemporary influences like Haken and Voyager thrown in for good measure.

It's similar to the first, but punchier, with more solos and a bit heavier. I think it's better.

Toehider - XII in XII #01 - "Quit Forever?" [EP]

also Tangled Thoughts of Leaving - Oscillating Forest

although this band terribly jumped the shark for me after their 1st album, and got obsessed with making droney noise rock instead of the cool jazzy Post Rock their debut album and 1st EP had.

Well, this did come out today, so I checked it out...

There seems to be a fair amount of hype around the album (the debut was indeed quite interesting). After one listen I found a good number of interesting/cool moments, but I wasn't entirely sold. I wish they didn't use so much of that shouty/throaty vocal style. I will likely revisit, though, as it might be a grower...
