THERION - Leviathan
WARDRUNA - Kvitrafn

I wonder why hardly anyone talks about Therion on this forum, they're not prog metal of course but the brilliant variety of styles album after album with nobody really the same as the previous should appeal to many progheads, especially those who don't mind the symphonic approach.

I've wondered the same thing myself.
Probably as they are not known at all in the USA and more in Europe.
Been into them for 20 years saw them live in 2005 and were amazing.

New single from Kauan, pretty good stuff. After their last album which was super mellow and dreamy they're going back to a more heavy sound, and there's some really nice lead guitar here.

The new God is an Astronaut is the only new album I checked out yesterday. It was alright I guess. I thought there was supposed to be a new Mogwai album as well  ???

Has that been pushed back?

Joel Hoekstra's 13 - Running Games
Totally loving this one!  Joel is such a great hard rock songwriter!  All the band is killing it, even Vinnie Appice is showing more diversity in his playing. Also I think Russel as the only lead vocalist this time was a better option.

When the fuck is Spotify going to get it thru their goddamn algorithms that I don't like rap?  No matter how much I select "I don't like <artist> / this song"  I get at least 8-10 songs in my Release Radar every week that are rap songs/artists, somehow tagged with an additional artist that would normally be something I like.  Eg, A song showed up today by "Riddles, Mercenary", and another by "King Tipps, Eclipse".  13 of the 29 songs were like this.  And another 12 songs that aren't exactly "new" (they're at least 3-4 weeks old, eg... Epica), there were only 5 songs of any interest, and one album - Primitai / Violence of the Skies.

Spotify needs some new programmers, and/or better AI tools.

Evanescence - The Bitter Truth

My Deluxe box arrived Thursday. They surprised us with a cover of Across the Universe at the end of the bonus disc. Amy's voice is awesome.

Still waiting on a shipping notice for my Smith/Kotzen album. Amazon is really dropping the ball lately.

Thanks goo-goo. I gave this a couple of spins today based on your recommendation and agree this is great. Will give it a few more listens. As much as I can see the Tool, Soen, Vola references, this album also reminds me quite a bit of Karnivool in parts as well.

Yeah, thanks to that post I have both of their albums on order. I promised myself that I wouldn't spend as much on music as I did last year. Not following that so far.

Arion / Vultures Die Alone... closer to what their debut sounded like (which is a fantastic power metal album) vs their last release (which was rather mediocre, imo).  Primal Fear put out an EP, which contained a re-recording of a track from their last album with Tarja.  Not sure if the other 4 tracks are new or not.  Still need to tee up Sweet Oblivion / Relentless.

Not much else stood out in my Release Radar (since most of it has already been released).

I do like it. Amy has a solid group behind her for these last 2 albums. I'm especially a big fan of their drummer, Will Hunt.

She struggled, in my opinion, on their first album without Ben but has really made some good music with the self-titled and this new one.

Four new releases I'll be working my way through today:

Liquid Tension Experiment 3 (obvs)
Black Peaks - Live at The Brighton Centre
The Vintage Caravan - Monuments
Crown - The End of All Things

Might give the new Offspring a spin as well, and try to go in with an open mind!
