last week:

An Isolated Mind - I'm Losing Myself: https://open.spotify.com/album/1YBB2xdarfCkomnEKADtWa
Front half is some nice, spacey black metal, back half is some ambient/drone. I like both halves but I kinda wish the ambient was... not as long

Joliette - Luz Devora: https://open.spotify.com/album/7Ejwp1ylb3pG9v1bK47Zrn
some kind of hybrid of post-hardcore and post-metal, it's a bit less colorful than i tend to prefer but on first listen i dug this a fair bit regardless

this week:

WAIT - We Are In Transit: https://open.spotify.com/album/2gTfcR2AXyicQftP6kaJO1
pretty solid proggy death metal EP. unfortunately only an EP, i'd love to hear more of this, but i might keep spinning it anyways, dunno. it's neat.

This came out today. One of the best albums of the year imo. Super dark with incredible vocals.

i've listened to both of the above already amusingly  :lol
falls of rauros was alright. didn't really like lingua outside of some of the more intense moments, it's a bit too slow-paced and i'm not keen on her cleans. i don't have anything to add to the list at this time

Are you able to listen to music at work?

It is a little slow. I actually just finished the whole thing. I like it. It's pretty chill.

Not sure if these are new today, but they showed up in my New Release Radar:

Alter Bridge / Pay No Mind (song)

SinHeresY / Out of Connection (album)

Lord / Fallen Idols (album)

Northtale / Welcome to Paradise (album)

Plus a handful of other sweet lookin tunes in my feed:

Gonna check out Lord this weekend, but that NorthTale record is dope. No frills melodic power metal, right in the pocket of 150-170 BPM, 1998-2003 era power metal, exactly like Bill Hudson described. Glad it met my expectations. No corny gimmicks or one-note lyrical themes either.
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

New releases today:

Cult of Luna - A Dawn to Fear (Album)
It's better than I remember, but still very safe for CoL standards.. the last 2 tracks are completely killer, so are The Silent Man and Nightcrawler. So even though it's middle of the road for them, still a great album!

White Ward - Love Exchange Failure (Album)
Already listened to the Bandcamp stream earlier this week, it's ok, but the first and last song are by far the best things on here.

Black Crown Initiate - Years in Frigid Light (Single)
Nothing special, but still really good. Strong cleans as always, and cool proggy ending. Seeing them tonight with Rivers of Nihil, Møl and Orbit Culture, hope they play it! :metal

Orbit Culture - Nensha (Single)
Also seeing tonight :metal this single is way better than what I've heard from them before, but still not a huge fan of this band.

Leprous - Alleviate (Single)
This is already widely known of course. Great single, duh, it's Leprous :corn

Ukrainian musician VONAVI released his long awaited debut "Reflection" today.

Some very cool Cinematic music going on, on this, which features the vocals from Run Rivers aka Chris James from STATELESS on a bunch of tracks.

The only thing this doesn't tell you about the album is that it's one of those everything-flows-together type of albums I love.
But uhh. This is super cool.
