In a weird way, maybe. More for who he was as a star than for being an actor.

I saw a picture of him from last year and he looked like he'd been dead for 12 years or so. The mustache still looked fantastic.

Sam Elliot's stache is just part of the total package. The voice, the western look, and the cool, laid back demeanor are just as important.

I don't know why it just occurred to me, but my brother hung out with Burt for a few minutes back when he was a kid. I guess I can contribute to the discussion that Burt was the kind of guy that would spend 5 or 10 minutes being nice to an 11 year old extra and hook him up at the craft-services table. That's actually fairly meaningful, as my hunch is that most movie-stars couldn't be bothered to be so humble.

I remember seeing Deliverance for the first time and thinking, "Where in the hell is Burt's 'stache?"  :lol :lol

This will raise an eyebrow or two, but the movies I think of first when I think of Burt Reynolds are the two Cannonball Run flicks.  I watched those to death back in the day.

I have fond memories of seeing Cannonball Run at the drive in with Tron.

If you woke me up from a dead sleep and said "quick nam a Burt Reynolds movie!" If I didn't say Deliverance I'd say Cannonball Run II. I always preferred that one to the first an watched it a ton as a kid. That orangutan or whatever the hell is was killed me. To hell with Citizen Kane, him flipping off that old lady is the purest, most masterful and artistic moment of American cinema.

I can't think of 5 other movies I've seen where he was a headliner.

It's a fun movie, it's about a camping trip. They play songs, pretend they are barnyard animals, etc....
