As I understand it, yeah, that's how it works. I'm going to guess a band each round just for fun. I don't need those bonus points anyway. I'm going to win this fair and square.

A little bit more on that to make the guessing feel a little less random: The bonus points artists are drawn from two categories:
Artists I have tried and somewhat liked, but feel uncertain about actually wanting to hear more from them. However, I have heard really good things about them from enough people to make me think they're the type of artist that I "should" like more than I do.
Artists that I have not tried (maybe beyond hearing a single song), and have reasons to think I might really like them, but also reasons to think I might not. And I have heard enough good things about them from enough people to make me think I should give them more of a shot.

Neither Fates Warning nor Vanden Plas are on the list.

OH! On that note, then one is either the band I sent, or far more likely, Kiss. Definitely Kiss.

Well, for one thing, bonus points are far from a guarantee. And in fact the bands on this list are riskier than a lot of bands that aren't on this list. You only get the bonus points if you score a 9 or 10. And you're trying to score that high with either an artist that I have already tried and wasn't over the moon about, or haven't tried but have genuine reservations about.

As an example, one of the bonus artists was submitted to me previously. It scored less than the equivalent of a 9 with a song that I view as one of the best songs I've heard from that artist.

It's up to you to decide whether it's in your best interests to have those artists known to the public or known only to me. And, when some end up revealed, it's up to you to decide whether it's in your best interests to submit one of them in hopes that I love it and you get the bonus, or whether you want to avoid it in worry that I'll give it a middling (or worse) score. You're not required to guess, and I won't be offended if you decide not to.

Actually make Opeth the priority, and if 2 is allowed I'll take TesseracT too. I trust romdrums to send a good track if he decides to send them before me!

You can't do two bands from the same list. You can do one band from "totally banned 18 artists" list and one from "partially banned list". At least that's how I think it works.

I've just PM'd artist info to everyone who requested it. It's obviously in your interest to keep that knowledge to yourself, though if you want to berate me in-thread after reading some of my controversial opinions I guess I can't fault you for that.

I have submissions now from 16 of 18(!) contestants. No immediate rush to get those last two in, but it would be nice to be able to listen to everything a couple of times over the weekend. After I have everything, I'll start hangman, which I have never done before!
