Damn. I had a feeling the narration was gonna hurt my score. Yeah, if you don't even like LOTR, I'm not surprised. I do appreciate the lengthy thoughts and the fair chance given though. Down to 6th place... yikes, I need to knock your socks off this next round.

While it's not for everyone obviously, MP is my #1 Rhapsody song ever.

From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

part 2 has more feels

Dear lord help me... but I'm with Parama here.  Part 1 is just all over the map, and seems to focus too much on setting up the storyline vs just simply being a great song.  I was so let down and confused.  L-45 salvaged things to some extent, but part 1 was not a great way to kickoff the album.
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad
I fear for the day when something happens on the right that is SO nuts that even Stadler says "That's crazy".

:D That's a nice album by Eric. It has some great prog, some great metal and some good guitar hero stuff. You should definitely try it. I'll have to review what I've sent so far before I send the next song.

Uhh... I obviously need to revisit Part 2. I remember having trouble even getting through the first few minutes of that one (the "I feel so incredible and so incorruptible" section, I don't remember the actual lyrics)

In fact, I sent Part 1 because, in my opinion, it's one of the most easily accessible songs over 15 minutes in my roulette arsenal. All the melodies are great and memorable. The main melody appears in the very beginning, then in the middle of the song, separating it in two halves, then brings the song to a logical conclusion. Both halves have some great stuff going on. I often sing along to this tune so my neighbours are subjected to all the glory of "John what's the problem, we've got to get out" line.

@425, the live version of Tarkus really is all about the final section, Aquatarkus.  To me, the improv section, which is completely different from the studio version, is the greatest moment in their catalog.  They do such an amazing, impeccable job of building that section up, so that when it gets back to the reprise of the opening section of the piece, it feels like such an incredible release.  ELP had few equals when it came to live performance.

Sent! I seem to be losing grip on 425's tastes as this roulette progresses, so hopefully this one will allow me to join the EP round, because I have that idea I'd really like to use.

Out of three roulettes which are 425's, Indiscipline's and Puppies', this time it's 425 who'll get the "pretentious" treatment if I make it.

Yeah, there's something about the difficulty of describing music tastes that makes the whole losing grip thing particularly frustrating.

It's like I want to point at your first few entries, and say, "Send more of THIS, not that other stuff!"

But that difference that seems so clear to me probably would not be to you, because "this" is "stuff that is to my tastes" and "that other stuff" is "stuff that is not exactly to my tastes."

Yeah, I'd say that Flaming Row track is totally more of the stuff I sent in the first two rounds, in my book. As is my song for this round. Which, in retrospect, probably isn't a good sign.

the song i sent this round is not like the songs i've sent in any previous round imo

which means it might not get an 8/10 like basically everything else i've sent so far has
like seriously my scores so far are 7.5 - 8 - 8.5 - 8 - 8 - 8 which is kinda funny and has also put me in 8th place with a perfect average of 8/10

yeah........ i'm genuinely trapped inside this octavarium :jamaritard:

425, what did you think of the screaming in my song? Just curious. I don't normally listen to much singing like that but I get chills almost every time I hear the last high pitched scream of 'to awaken him from sleep' at the end of that verse.

Just finished the first draft of my writeup for the upcoming EP round. I guess that means I'm sending it anyway. I feel like I've sustained the quality and the pretentiousness bar I set for myself during Puppies' roulette. 3,657 words too. I'm pretty proud of it, haha.

Puppies, I sent it to you. As you handled that first one with grace, you deserve to see it.

i mean, the pretentiousness apparently won puppies' EP round, so  :corn

the funny thing about my EP is that i don't think it would appeal to many people here besides the host, but for a totally different reason than usual. i really like it though and god the transitions & segues are almost all super satisfying to me

i'm getting cut after this round anyways, though, so it'll hardly matter  :corn

I don't know. :lol My EP is very different from everything I sent to 425 in both roulettes, so I'm kinda gambling in that regard, but regarding the writeup, I must say I'm really proud of it. :lol I had that idea for more than two weeks and now to finally bring it to life, it feels great.

yeah same, my EP is heavily thematic and dipping largely from a genre i have kind of gone out of my way to avoid sending thus far but i also know for a fact that it's a genre up 425's alley  :lol

i'm probably saying too much but i hope regardless of whether or not i get cut my EP ends up in hangmemes  :tup
