I also dunno how much in ariich's wheelhouse this is but I don't have a good grasp on his taste in electronic music so I can't really comment

I think it's a solid album but the only song I reeeeally like is tech noir

But based on the title track of the upcoming album I'm very hyped for that one

i didn't like any of the remixes tbh they felt way more generic than the standard songs

As I recall, you said to include the piano cover if it helped the score or exclude if it lowered it. As it happens it didn't make any difference really.

But yeah in general I'm happy to go with what people recommend, or if they don't specify then I go with my default which is to exclude bonus tracks. Because Dennis particularly recommended that one remix, I've included that at the end of my Spotify playlist, but not the others, and I didn't include any of the fun. bonus tracks.

Otta is only the third best of the three Solstafir albums I own so I'm glad that one was sent and not one of the two before it 

from what i know of wintersun it seems like a safe enough pick but it's the only album i'm up against i haven't actually heard so i dunno

Wintersun is like epic metal turned to eleven. It's also the only album from the list that I own.

Yeah, it's my most bombastic submission in the whole roulette. And while it's not talked about much it has a clear Devin Townsend influence, anyone who's more familiar with his work should notice it almost right away in Land of Snow and Sorrow.

Ok I'm enough of the way through first listens to be able to randomise first impressions and give you the first half.


Final round first impressions, part 1 of 2

#1 This is damn epic. Takes elements of two particular bands I like and fuses them together well. I dig it.

#2 This isn't at all what I was expecting, but what an absolute gem of an album.

#3 I like the moody vibe, but that might be about it. A lot of it didn't interest me much and I'm not really a fan of the vocals.

#4 This is certainly very dynamic, but for some reason it didn’t grab me too much on first listen.

#5 This has some amazing stuff. Not yet sure what I think about how it all fits together yet.

#6 This sounded good, although I was a little distracted and much of it didn't grab my attention. Further listens needed.

#7 Pretty good stuff, though not particularly original and I'm not yet sure about the singer.

#8 I like it. Not the biggest fan of the production, but it’s very moody and atmospheric.

#9 This is a lot of fun although maybe not as unique as I might have expected. I dig it though.

#10 This is really great, right up my alley but not like anything else this roulette. Reminds me of a couple of other bands but pretty different at the same time.

#11 Probably the best thing I’ve heard in this specific genre.

#12 This is very grand. A little on the cheesy side at times, perhaps, but extremely enjoyable.
