it's not a "bonus" of biggest difference though it's an additional score out of 5 everyone gets  i'd be really shocked if i didn't get at least 4/5 in that category

like i was considering something like extremities - gaia but felt it'd be too heavy/nonmelodic at points for ariich
but then if that was too heavy, slice the cake is too too too too too  too four four four heavy lol

Fair enough, but Odyssey to the West is also incredibly melodic and has catchy stuff in there too, and it's very epic which seemed to go down well with the Euphoreon album or whatever the band was called I don't think just calling it deathcore does it justice but I'm also the biggest fanboy of that album on this forum

I would also be surprised if I don't get 4 or 5 points for that

I haven't heard it yet but yeah Dennis described it as deathcore and it's 77 minutes long, so it's pretty likely to be the riskiest submission on the roulette. I wonder if I'll find myself grateful for including this caveat in the OP:

If I'm really not finding myself at all interested after two listens, then even if I have time I reserve the right to give up on it.

But then if it's melodic then I might well dig it. Who knows.

I would love that Xanthochroid album if I could get into the growls/shrieks whatever they are, though I actually like Of Erthe and Axen (Act I) a lot, don't like Act II as much. Maybe I should check out this one again but I remember there were more of those harsh vocals on this one than the latest.

Usually some or all of the day, depending on what work I'm doing (basically, when I'm just say at my desk working away). Plus around 2.5 hours of commuting. There's no way I'd be able to do an album roulette otherwise. I also listen to pretty much nothing else during my album roulettes.

I mean, being halfway through is only 6 albums. That's really not difficult to do in a day.

At home and on my commute I can most consistently concentrate on the music, definitely. Sometimes at work I'll find myself very immersed in what I'm doing and not especially take in all the album. Which is part of why I have a 3-listen minimum, and often it's 4 listens. Plus I recognise if after a listen or two I've not really taken something in, and I'll plan the next listen at a time when I can focus on it. It all works pretty well in the end.

Just noticed some tidbits on the previous couple of pages that for some reason I hadn't noticed and therefore hadn't replied to.

After the unexpected Arcane Roots score I started to listen to them more often, thanks for that. It's a unique chain of consequences that won't happen in any other roulette I believe 

That's awesome. I love it when someone sends me something slightly speculative and I end up loving it. After Ruslan sent me Insomnium in my last roulette (probably my favourite of the roulette) I pretty much immediately got their entire catalogue before he did.

Sidenote: I've been obsessed with Deftones again lately like I am almost every few months and was considering them. Which shows how very bad I still am at judging your tastes cause you rated almost all their albums and pretty much everything is around the 3.0 range

I have a strange relationship with Deftones, and my like for them comes and goes a bit. Koi No Yokan is a solid 7.5, and Saturday Night Wrist a 7.0. Everything else seems to have some really strong tracks and then other stuff that just doesn't do it for me AT ALL.
