It was reasonably easy to come up with 7, although admittedly I don't listen to a lot of their early stuff, Damnation does nothing for me, and most of their recent work doesn't really register. Still, I had to re-listen to a few tracks and The Moor is one hell of an opener!

I feel bad for Will O The Wisp, it just barely missed out on my picks, it's up there with Cusp of Eternity as one of the best songs of the last few albums. I know for some fans that doesn't say much but I thought those albums were all mostly very consistent.

I don't not like it, but I'm not much of a fan. Maybe it's because the vocals are all growling, because the riffs and guitar melodies are all killer, but it's never been a song I've gravitated towards.

I don't like it all that much. In fact, I find all of the longer tracks on that entire album to be a bit lacking compared to what came before and after (Still Life and Deliverance).

And I must be the only Opeth fan who just doesn't get the hype about Ghost Of Perdition. It's good, but compared to some of their other longer songs, it's completely average.

Haha, to be even more annoyingly oppositional, I also find the song Deliverance to be overrated as hell. Yeah, the ending is cool, but it's 4 minutes of the same shit over and over again and the rest of the song is just standard run-of-the-mill Opeth. The intro and verse is awesome, I'll give it that.

Saying the end of Deliverance is the same thing over and over is not giving credit to the subtle changes that are there as it creeps to the end. Plus, how many times have you heard a song with a riff so awesome that you wish you could just head bang away non-stop for several minutes, but you only get it briefly before the band goes into something else? With the end of Deliverance, you get that riff kicking your ass non-stop, while the minor changes give it a more rounded and satisfying overall scope. It's masterful.

The riff is fantastic, and I do enjoy the minor changes but it just doesn't change enough for me to feel like it warrants the amount of time it goes on. It's the same reason why I can't stand Open Up Your Eyes by Flying Colors. The intro part is great, but they keep playing it over and over and yeah, the drums and instrumentation gets more busy and intense, but still, it overstays its welcome and I just want it over. Yet somehow, I can listen to Steven Wilson's drone bullshit side project with endless repetition and completely love it. Maybe I'm just nuts.
