To be honest, listening to 16 tunes wasn't overly onerous, and so long as I don't have a bunch of 15+minute songs in a given round, it won't be.  So it's possible we may see 16 people to the very end.

Hold my beer....:p

 :rollin :rollin

Doesn't this take away the advantage given by finding the secret bands though?

Nah... the bonus received by the band still will accumulate towards total score/ranking.  So, if you would've finished 8th, and take the two point improvement, your score/rank is now 6th.

I'm still thinking Stadler's pick could be one of the secret bands...

You go and keep thinking that.

Once all is revealed, I'll update the last 3 'bonus' bands

Bolsters - Wolf?

total shots in the dark  :lol

Did Kade sent ACT?

Kingshmegland send Wolverine?

I though ACT and Helloween would be banned.

I swore I looked at Chad's banned list and saw Helloween. Must be mixing it up with Lethean's. Checked his Last.FM and he doesn't even have the best Helloween (imo) on there, but he has the Keepers! I would've sent something from Gambling or Dark Ride, personally. Or Ride the Sky because that's early Helloween at its finest

I don't own any Helloween, so there's no way it would've made it to the banned list.  Any Helloween I've tried was on Spotify, which would trigger into my last.fm stats.  Never been too fussed over anything I heard from them, hence the "how the hell did I miss them" award.

Tomorrow will bring the final disclosure of who sent what (since ya'll seem to have given up on that), details on the Handicap twist, and first impressions.

To tell you the truth, I think I might dumb that twist down a little.  I had put it in place in case anyone was repeatedly sending me stuff I didn't like, and still want that option.  Nothing this round was outright tripe, so if it stays this way, I don't see the need to eliminate anyone.  Instead of finishing in the bottom 1/3rd, I think I'll make it the bottom 3.  And rather than making eliminations a for sure thing, I'd like to reserve the right to axe anyone who finishes in the bottom three 3x.  To be honest, listening to 16 tunes wasn't overly onerous, and so long as I don't have a bunch of 15+minute songs in a given round, it won't be.  So it's possible we may see 16 people to the very end.

This sounds like a challenge.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

First, the final list:

(TAC) - Nahtram / The Wolf
(lonestar) - Orphaned Land* / The Cave
(kingshmegland) - A.C.T. / The Effect
(Elite) - Caligula's Horse / All is Quiet By the Wall
(Evermind) - Wolverine / Your Favorite War
(Train Of Naught) - Soen / Sectarian
(Kattoelox) - Time Requiem / Sin to Sin
(Bolsters) - Choirboys / Run to Paradise
(Puppies_on_Acid) - The Lord Weird Slough Feg / High Passage/Low Passage
(Indiscipline) - Helloween* / Dr. Stein
(jjrock88) - Fifth Angel* / Time Will Tell
(Lowdz) - Eric Gillette / The Great Unknown
(Lethean) - Katatonia* / Old Heart Falls
(Stadler) - Wetton/Downes / Under the Sky
(wolfking) - Amorphis* / Amongst Stars
(Parama) - The Hirsch Effekt / Agitation

I have jj's and wolfking's answer to the bonus reward.  The other three need to let me know their preference.

First impressions after 3 listens:

The only pure <genre> song sent this round, this was mighty enjoyable, but faced some tough competition

I see you’re following the ‘win if you can; lose if you must, but always cheat’ path with this submission.  I admire that

Foot tapping goodness

Heavy as fuck; totally not what I was expecting from this

Solid

This did nothing to change my opinion that this act is over-rated by the DTFs

Not often a fan of the doom-and-gloom style but this was pretty decent

There’s a certain je ne sais quoi missing with this song

There is a lot going on with this tune… in a very good way

There is a lot going on with this tune… not always in a good way

It's not a bad song, but something has to finish at the bottom

That solo melted my ears

This puts the fun in funky

This is right in the jingle wheelhouse - everything about this song clicked

This is going to suffer a similar fate to a song TAC sent me in a previous roulette, and I feel bad for it

Normally, this is the kind of mood/atmosphere that wouldn’t work, but it did, and what a great solo

Resultz will be no later than tomorrow morning - sometime in the next 24-26 hours.  There's a fairly strong 1/3-1/3-1/3 trend playing out here... 1/3 are fantastic; 1/3 are really really good; 1/3 between decent and not working.

As I said, nothing totally grossed me out, but some didn't improve with multiple listens.
