Good observation.
Thank you!

Another thing I noticed:

'GRONSFELDCYPHER' is 15 letters long, and the picture pieces contain the bolded letters.

After a little bit of research, both are acceptable : cipher is more American English, cypher is more British English. So, it may be acceptable?

Oh Ok. Didn't know that. (Yousa point is well seen.) Sorry. Sebastian may be right concerning his observation (or not, depending on what the letter for puzzle 9 will be, but it's very well possible)

All this sounds so Mangini... Maybe he's the master mind behind all this puzzle, given his rocket science and programming past history...

No problem there, Bro! I didn't know that either before doing a little bit of research.

From Freddy's latest video on Twitter, the first thing I though of was the 80's movie "War Games" when I saw the makeshift WOPR label.  There are quite a few nuggets on hacking, since that was a major theme of the movie.  They ended up discovering that the password was "Joshua" which was the son of an AI researcher.  Ha, some early 80's social engineering.

So Joshua is the password for puzzle 9?

haha good one. I'm amused. Well played.

Max, I can't login to Discord right now. :-[ What are you guys up to?

I understand, from Freddy quoting my post, that we have to take the quiz once again, replacing the fifth answer with "ii", whatever that means. I tried "ii", "Finally Free", "James LaBrie", but nothing works, I think.

Did the patterns I found in the video mean something?

OK, so: there's a 2nd quiz, which gives us a new URL, and the following message:

"Well done. Add the last two digits to the password."

The 2 digits are probably related to the WarGames, right?

Freddy replied to his video with "If only Bogie was here to help...".

As I haven't watched the movie, I don't know what the relevance of 'Bogie' might be. I did a quick search, and all I could find is:

Holy cow. What a cool puzzle this was! A cool twist at the end.

The new picture includes a 'T'. So much for 'GRONSFELDCYPHER' or 'LORDNAFARYUSBUG' being the master code.  :-[

How did you solve it? I definitely couldn't again. I think I must be stupid. If anyone likes to contribute to the Gdoc how you did it, please feel free by any means.

Yeah, I just offered Hyrul to send him a summary.  ;) I'll try to have it done by tonight.

I think the problem was that we had too much info around - 'WOPR', the lights, the 'code.jpg' picture, the phrase formed by the letters in the quiz, the 'minus the fifth, replace it by ii' bit, 'Bogie'... Some of that info was confusing at first, but then it all makes sense. I probably wouldn't have made any progress today if it hadn't been for some very smart people at Discord.

In short: each pair of lights in the Twitter video was morse code. We had to decrypt the message.

Aaah right ok (Morse code and DT that's a thing in itself - Remember In The Name Of God?). No pressure though (not from me anyway) I think people should stop assuming that the master code will be a word or something else that's meaningful. Just a string of letters probably.

How on earth you could solve these so quickly?? Another thing which is strange that there were robwebster and some other guys who putted this treasure hunt on but all have disappeared somewhere. Now there's just few people here to solve these puzzles. I don't know how many people are on Discord, never really understood what place that even is. I hope more people could take part of this unique thing but I'mi sucker in these kind of things myself. I really love this idea of treasure hunt but you guys are just too good :lol

I stopped after the first couple because every time I made progress I’d look at the Google Doc and be like “oh, everyone’s way ahead of me, and I don’t really know who these people are or how to collaborate with them.” Too fast!

Yeah, thanks! I remember reading about the "In the name of God" nugget many years ago, but I didn't remember Nick's username. And yes, the lights ended up being Morse code, but it took a while figuring it out.

As for the other thing: don't worry! The same happened to me when I joined the hunt on puzzle #4. There are many smart people in the DT channel in Discord; I suggest you join us one of these days! ;) The conversations are a lot of fun, and you learn things you had no idea about.

I don't know if anyone noticed it, but we only have 6 fragments left to find before the master puzzle. The top row and the bottom row are completely filled by now.

Can someone else check the first page of the thread? I'm not seeing James' picture in Freddy's first post. It's as if the URL had expired or been deleted.

The picture was shared:
  • June 29th, on Freddy's Twitter page, and it's still there.
  • June 29th, on DT World's Facebook page, and it's still there.
  • June 30th, on Freddy's 3rd DTF post. It's actually the same as DT World's, so it's still there.
  • July 11th, on Freddy's 6th DTF post - i.e. "Treasure Hunt" thread, and it's missing.
  • July 12th, on DT's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, and they are still there.

EDIT: I just checked the source code from Freddy's first post in the thread. The URL for the picture is
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dg3uLVHWAAAj38c.jpg:large. That's the same as his Twitter picture. However, according to the source code, the picture can't load. Any ideas why?

Exactly! There's still a lot more to do! :) There are 7 puzzles left. So far it's been much fun. I hope you join the party!
