I actually don't remember anything about Old Heart Falls. :lol My favourites from that are Decima and Residual.

Pretty sure I'll decide who guessed the best song.

Elite sent Oceans of Slumber
Puppies sent Ocoai
Sacul sent O'Brother
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad
I fear for the day when something happens on the right that is SO nuts that even Stadler says "That's crazy".

But I think Residual is more of a grower.

I think it clicked with me on my fourth or fifth listen? Outstanding song.

Sacul is already on the list, but you're correct on the others, and it only leaves Train for O'Brother

So now that the list is revealed, I just want to apologize in advance to whoever gets a 7, 8, 9, or whatever you consider too low for your song.  This is going to be really tough to rank and this round is killer.  Right now there are 4 songs that say "I'm #1" each time I listen to them.

Also, Stadler - since you don't know any of these songs either, but they're so good, why don't you listen to them too? It'll be fun.  You can let me know if you agree with my rankings and what yours would be (besides your own of course).

if i'd sent oceans of slumber i'd definitely have picked winter, but then i'd have gotten last place for the bit of harsh vocals that one has  :lol

i love how you specified "7, 8, 9" as if 10 was already set in stone though  :corn

There's definitely a lot of good songs on that playlist.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone else here ever listened to Ocoai? I don't think I've heard mention of them here before...

Just so you know, if you don't send me one particular band, I'm going to not listen to them on purpose... :P

I listened to 3 discographies of bands you love and you won't give them one album? Shenanigans. You owe me!  Okay, fine. But I am going to crush you under the weight of all the cheese. 20 minute submission is imminent.  :lol
So... your unfortunate last post in the Angra thread reminded me... you *don't* have to submit this one particular band to get me to listen to them after all.  You just have to listen to Aqua, and I don't mean "try" to listen to it; listen to it with headphones while you are doing nothing else, and open your mind to the possibility that you could be wrong about it... and as part of our deal, I'll listen to a (not double) Rhapsody album.  Of course, if you don't wanna do that, you can get around it by submitting a song here....

Definitely banned.  Damn, that song got a way too much pop-radio air-time when it was released.  Still gets airtime on the stations that are 80s and 90s themed.

Yes.  Progressive/power metal is probably the most accurate description, although I've heard the band members call it "progressive metal" and that's what I call them too.  They also include a lot of influences from Brazilian music, which I think helps to give them a different flavor than most.  And, they're pretty much at the very top as far as metal musicianship goes, imo.  Probably too "happy" for you would be my guess, but you never know right?  I generally don't like harsh vocals, but there are a few albums with them that I do like.
