Evermind is gonna send Beyond the Bridge at some point.
Lethean: gotta ask, as I'm an adventurous music fan, besides not liking country and rap, and enjoying prog/power metal, are you open to other genres of music? We're talking like... new age. Jazz of several varieties. 70s singer-songwriter stuff, cinematic music, all that. Or are you looking to stay in your comfort zone (prog)?
It doesn't have to be prog. After all, Candlebox is on my list (in fact I almost sent you their debut album but thought the better of it). That being said, if someone sends me a prog song that I love, it would be likely to win the round - but there's plenty of prog that I don't love or even like. So - let's see. Jazz... don't like that much, but there has been stuff described as "fusion" that I thought was cool. What, you ask? No idea - sorry.
New age - I dunno, and I'm not really sure what all that encompasses. I like some Enya songs - start off listening to an album and think it's great, then at some point find myself wondering how many songs 'til I get to the end. Obviously this wouldn't be a problem if I'm just listening to one song.
Cinematic music - movie soundtrack type stuff? I probably like plenty of that but have never thought to just listen to it by itself. Singer-songwriter, I don't know. I'd have to really like the singer's voice and really like the melodies. If the singer sounds like he or she is talking/mumbling - pass.
I listened to a lot of classical music growing up and particularly liked Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky; I'm not looking for super long pieces of classical music, but if you've got something that you think is cool, I'd interested in hearing it. What else? When I'm staying with my parents they listen to a lot of PBS, and I've heard a ton of Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brighton, Josh Groban, David Foster (and his friends), etc. Great voices, but generally doesn't move me, and in the end, that's what I'm looking for.
