That's a really interesting Stratovarius song choice, and from one of the most underrated Strato albums.

I goofed and didn't even realize they were on the banned list, but in my writeup to Lethean I said I wanted to send something from a lesser-known era of the band, and although it's rather simple and straightforward it hits me in the heart every time - one of my favorite songs ever made. Painfully underrated album, too.

I would (possibly wrongly) assume that you need another letter or two for #4 and 5...

If that's what you think, why'd you send it?

Also, the first time I listened to the track I was really confused because it had none of the things you mentioned, and no vocals at all.  Then I realized I'd found a totally different version.  :lol

I agree, that album is so overlooked and it's actually one of my favs from the band.  Well, I reckon it would definitely crack top 5, has a real atmosphere and certain charm about it.  Nice pick, and that's probaly not even one of my favs from the album, yet still a cracking song.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Do Einar and Ivar write the score for the show Vikings?  This track *really* sounds like music from the show and I keep picturing Ragnar and Floki.

I have never seen the show but a quick google search shows that they do not. They're known from other bands (Wardruna, Enslaved and Gorgoroth most notably) and both came together on this project. Definitely does sound like it could be in some kind of epic movie/TV scene

Not even close to my top 5 but you're dead on about the atmosphere and charm. Madneeeeess strikes at midnight :2metal: I expect mine to place in the bottom this round but I have no regrets.

Oh I did not know that, that's awesome. Einar Selvik is the frontman of Wardruna, and that's the band among associated acts that comes closest to the sound of this song for sure, atmospheric nordic folk. If you're not yet familiar with Wardruna's music and only found out about them through the Vikings score and dig this tune, they're a great starting place for checking out more music in this vein with the same intensity.

You should totally watch the show.  I've never heard of Wardruna but if you search for Vikings TV show music, there's an article about Wardruna.  I hadn't read it when you posted, but was trying to look at another page that had info about the songs.  I haven't listened to any of the score outside the show, but the song you sent sounds a lot like what I've heard while watching.  Really cool. :)

I know they had some of their songs licensed for use in the show. I'm reading on Wikipedia that they took part in composing the score for season 2 of the show but not sure beyond that.
